Amazing Race just had their post Covid episode. They started just at the beginning of Covid, had a 19 month break, and re grouped last summer/fall.

Honestly, the post Covid version is better! More simple, focused on the locations, teams have to self drive as there is no public transportation, they have their own plane, felt like old school Amazing Race in the best way. I recommend it for a distraction show right now!

First thing to come to mind is Call of Duty or Hitman based on how he describes it, but Battlefield wouldn’t surprise me either.

Agree and I haven’t even gotten to these shows yet haha.

New sitcoms on tv have been good, new reality TV has been good, NFL playoffs have been the best in years..... January 2022 was worst month of my life BUT the TV that’s been on has helped tremendously!

With you on those, plus Pam & Tommy, 1883, Righteous Gemstones, better-than-a-CBS-sitcom-should-be Ghosts, The Gilded Age ... 2022 has already been a solid year just 5 weeks in.

I doubt it's a me show....its about teens and drugs. I have enough to be depressed about in real life...lol

I watch shows to have fun mainly or shows like South Park, Curb and what not mocking daily lives/society trends

I want to watch Pam and Tommy....but after hearing they didn't get consent from the real live actors they are making it off of....makes me not really want to support it. Its a show telling you how its kinda bad to sell people's personal life for money, as they sell you their story for money without consent

Shows the embarassment of riches right now, I have no idea what this is. Will look into it for sure tho.

Not sure how much this will change your opinion, but it closely resembles American Crime Story (in fact I was surprised after to learn Ryan Murphy not involved). It's as much a show about the media circus and society as the individual characters. I'll add that, three episodes in, Pam Anderson comes off as a hugely sympathetic character--not only because of this incident but because of how she was treated in Hollywood in general. Tommy Lee more nuanced--you see him as a spoiled douchecano but can also see the oddly charming guy Pam fell in love and married in 4 days. But Pam barely cameos in the first episode, and the third episode is dedicated more to the 90s adult entertainment industry (juxtaposed with the producers of Baywatch, who come off horribly) than any particular performer. In other words, it's not just a Pam & Tommy soap opera.

TL;dr: not nearly as exploitive as you might expect it to be.

Plenty of stories based on huge cultural events didn't get approval from the people it's based on. If it's a cultural event and you are a public figure, it's fair game.

The movie Vice is a good example of what i'm talking about. The absolutely did not contact Dick Cheney to get his approval or in any of the OJ Simpson doc's they don't consult with OJ. The only difference is people don't like Cheney or OJ, but that doesn't make it any different. Just because you may like someone doesn't mean it's any different than Pam & Tommy.

Also, remember Season 2 of Tiger King last year? Carole Baskin said she didn't want to be in it, they put her in it anyway because they can, and people watched it. The upcoming Joe vs. Carole series on Peacock is the same, as is the movie with the Tiger King movie with Nic Cage playing Joe Exotic. As far as i've been able to tell, they have not been consulted about those things at all, nor will they profit. Their story is of public interest and they are known figures, which is why things like this can happen without consultation.

For me the big difference is Vice is based on someone elected who took us to war and Tiger King is about a murder.

I don't know how either or those compare to a leaked porn video? Isn't park of the story and moral that it can ruin someone's life or make it worst just to make a few extra bucks?

Like @SeventyOne said, it's not like they are defaming Pam & Tommy in any way. They are showing Pam in a very sympathetic light. This was, after all, a tape that go out not by their own accord, unlike some other famous sex tapes. The show is telling the story of what the two went through in the aftermath of it leaking.

So I just saw this trailer and I have to say i'm genuinely intrigued. I hope it's not another fakeout from Netflix where it looks good in the trailer and then they give you a crap sandwich. Also, Reynolds actually seems to be doing something a bit different than his usual schtick, which makes me interested at as well. He seems to actually be acting instead of playing himself more or less.

If you haven’t watched The Righteous Gemstones yet, do yourself a favor and start now. Season two is amazing.

It’s legitimately one of the best comedies on TV and it’s a travesty that it doesn’t get more attention.

Yup. They improved from season one and it’s well acted and great characters. The absurdity of the show makes it though.

Didn't see a Netflix thread but wanted to post this. Not going to tell you what to do but for me if they go through with this I'm canceling my account with them.

Netflix

With so many outstanding Netflix original shows popping up (Daredevil, House of Cards, Voltron, Stranger Things, E.T.C.); I think it may be within the best interest to make a thread that includes ALL OF THEM. This thread is more for thoughts and news of the original show's coming to Netflix, as...

Let's please tread lightly when it comes to the politics of it all.
