This looks so much more like a Ghostbusters film than I would've expected, down to the look of the ghosts, Slimer, the theme song. It looks awesome.

People speak with their wallets. That is why the films that get many sequels and reboots are of course, now franchises. They know enough will see it once theatrically to make it worth it.

Personally; I didn't have much to gripe over on the trailer. Am I excited for the film? No, and I shouldn't be. But I am going in optimistic, hoping for the best..while, preparing for the worst.

Honestly, I agree. Does it look a bit different? Yes. But different can be good. I'm definately cautiously optimistic.

I keep watching as the views increase on the YouTube trailer, the dislikes continue to outpace the likes. I think this has the potential to be the most hated reboot of our time.

You have the "Ugh, woman" jerks, but then you have a different batch of "This just seems forced to appease feminists".

Then there's the:

• Confused about reboot, or sequel
• Not Funny
• Why is the lone black woman not a scientist and a stereotypical "sassy, black woman"
• Looks like Scooby Doo
• Tired of reboots
• Over Melissa McCarthy

It's very polarizing.

The reaction to the Ghostbusters trailer speaks to a larger problem with moviegoing audiences in the age of social media and instant feedback in regard to trailers. If the initial trailer is not exactly what a demographic wants, the backlash is immediate and severe.

My only real complaint is that they opted not to make it a part of the existing Ghostbusters canon. To me it's a real missed opportunity to show where the original Ghostbusters are now and allow them to pass on the business. To essentially just remake the old movie and replace the men with female characters seems very unoriginal. All that said it looks like a fun movie, just nothing special to me.

Now the return of Ecto-Cooler is a different story, very excited about that!

That's my biggest beef with the movie. Besides the visuals, growing up I connected with the characters and that was a big part of the charm from the 2 originals.

I wanna see Old Venkman being a teacher.

i totally get that. i dont want to watch 4 white guys give 4 white women "the torch." do all the work for them and then just milk nostalgia and good faith. THAT screams Cash Grab to me.

i dont mind well done remakes or reboots (Evil Dead). i grew up in theatre with shakespeare who interpreted in insanely diverse and diabolical ways.

The Force Awakens was also my first Star Wars film.

My dad made me watch DAS BOOT, 1942, Born in East L.A. and Phantasm as a child. Hes a pot smoking war vet from LA. imagine Spicoli moves to Georgia.

My mom used movies as nap time / babysitting.

I get the idea of wanting to do something new and original, but this is not it. He's copying every element from the original movie and just redoing the exact same thing over again. The carachters at least from the trailer appear to be identical to their male counterparts. To me if your going to so heavily borrow from the original at least tie it in and build onto that world that was originally created. Borrowing the name and characters and making the same thing again is the truly unoriginal cash grab.
