The theming and the fact Zumanjaro lasts only a few seconds. Same reason I'd put Big Thunder above Kingda Ka.

Is TOT scary? I still haven't rode it.

It would be weird to see a GOTG theme over the TOT building.

It is the only ride my 5 year old has gone on that afterwards she said she did not want to ride again. a couple months later she decided to ride it again, but it is more scary than any other ride she has been on. So I would say yes, it is scary.

I can handle the Aerosmith roller coaster and enjoy riding that. Not sure if I should even compare these two rides. I don't like that drop feeling in Splash Mountain or Jurassic Park.

My mom is the same way and when she finally rode Tower of Terror after 20 years of avoiding getting on it last year, she realized it wasn't as bad as she thought. Dr Doom and Tower of Terror are worse going up than going down in my personal opinion which mitigates that drop feeling.

I can relate to this. I was 5 on my first ride of ToT, going to WDW in the previous years and how tame most of the rides were, my parents didn't think it would be that bad. To this day, I'm convinced I came flying out my seat and I couldn't ride it again until I was about 12. I was riding The Hulk whilst refusing to go back on ToT.

I think part of the excitement is the build up to the drop. You know it's coming and once you're strapped in, there's nothing you can do about it. My first visit with my wife, I bought a Storm Trooper helmet bank and had it at my feet. As we got tossed up into the air and then dropped, the helmet floated from my feet to about eye level just as a flash went off, I don't think I've ever been more freaked out.

Lol that is funny about the helmet.

It actually was the story line that got her. The guy that does the voice while on the ride really freaked her out. I tried looking up the script, but couldn't find the line that freaked her out. It was something about everything is changing or nothing will be the same. But she kept saying, but mom, what about what the ride said and she repeated the line. I really had to talk her down and get her to know it was not reality. Which was interesting because she has a pretty good grasp on fake vs. real and she knows the rides are fake. But that one really got her. The next time we went on, she said she was a little freaked out about the drops. She will still go on it, it hasn't stopped her from riding it. But it by no means is on the top of her list of rides to go back on. She loves thrill rides and the bigger drop the better for her. So I think it was the story more than anything.

I've looked up the seat belt restraints, apparently when the ride first opened, it was only a lap bar being used, so smaller guests could rise out their seats slightly. Make n mistake about it though, once you're strapped in, you're strapped in and it's perfectly safe and fun.

I did find another video while looking this up but it shows an absolute moron riding without a belt.

Your daughter's just putting me to shame with how scared I was. I couldn't even ride Kong again for a while after my first experience either.

We were in line for Tower of Terror. There were two guys, who looked like they were in their late twenties, next to us in line. One of them was screaming (literally) that he didn't want to go on, while his friend was trying to calm him down. I started talking to them, they were kind of cool, and told the screaming guy there wasn't anything to be scared of and that it was a real fun ride. After a while & more conversation, we get to the drop tower. So I told the guy that was screaming before, but had calmed down now, that as a good tip if you want to really enjoy the sensation of dropping, don't hold on to your seat, and then you'll be able to experience the sensation of floating in air. Well, at the mention of that, the guy completely flips out. He starts screaming loudly. "I don't want to float. I don't want to float" . He screamed through the whole drop sequence. His friend starting laughing loudly at that. My GF and I tried to keep a straight face since we didn't want to be rude. As the ride ended, he was still screaming as he went out the exit. :)

You wouldn't be the first. You would not believe the amount of lines for various rides we are in with her and her telling adults how fun and not scary it is and the adults having a look of terror on their face while everyone in their party is trying to get them to ride by saying, see, she is going on it. Our one friend rode Soarin with us only because he said if she can do it, I guess I can too lol We got on and she sat on the end (her favorite seat is middle section on one of the ends) and the guy in the other section looked at her and said, they let little kids like her on this thing?!? She really has zero fear of heights, drops, speed, etc. From the age of 2 1/2 after getting on her first coaster she wanted to go on Hulk. I thought Space Mountain would freak her out, but nope, it is her favorite ride and she road it 5 times the one visit. I can't wait for 48" and she can go on her first upside down ride. Maybe that will finally get to her? But doubt it.

The funny part is she is scared to climb up play sets at playgrounds. Like rock walls or certain other types of things. She is getting better, but she seems to have no fear when someone else is in control of her life and safety, but when she is in control she is much more cautious.

Wanted to add one of the reasons I think she eats so healthy is we always tell her that fruit, veggies, milk, and meat will help her grow tall so she can get on more coasters :lmao:

That sounds exactly my brother in law. We went in 2o13 and he's a big Welsh guy, so you'd think he would be ok with these kind of rides, I've never heard somebody scream so much on a ride. He was completely fearless, there wasn't a coaster he wouldn't go on but we were all taking turns sitting next to him to hear him scream, it was one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

That's him front row, far left.

Edit: Here's the video of said moron from earlier not wearing their seatbelt.

I wonder how that happened to begin with. They have those light panels where is someone doesn't have a seat belt on they know. Wonder if they jammed something in so the sensor detected a seat belt. Interesting.

I did think that, at first I thought he would have buckled the seat belt in and then sat on top of it but it looks like nothing is plugged in at all. They also say they got caught yet somehow managed to do the drop and even get a photo at the end.

Yeah the whole thing is so strange. Because there are cameras on those rides, so how did they go thru so many drops without it being stopped. Big Disney fail on safety on that one.
