well of course not. Murdy doesn't like IPs they actually own that can also be treated as an original....

Let's just say we might (I repeat, might) have a 2016 TCM situation on our hands in terms of announcements.

As in we partially suggest a property since it was similarly connected to another IP (when we thought TCM might come since at the time we thought it would make sense to bring Michael and Freddy vs. Jason, despite Titans of Terror not even being established at the time)?

Wait, are we talking about mazes or scare zones? I'm so confused at this point.

Zones. I was just joking how Conjuring was speculated to come in 2016 but TCM ended up coming. Chris meant that Orlando announced TCM early in 2016 while we announced it later on in July(?). In this case Orlando announced Chucky before Hollywood did

Personally I feel we should've gotten Chucky & Killer Klownz scarezones as well anyway... although I'd hope that A LOT more effort would be made for a Chucky scarezone than what was seen in 2013. So much potential, little to no effort made from Murdy. The only positive was Chucky's mini insult emporium being part of it.

Killer Klowns wouldn't need that much set details except for cool lighting & maybe a few props here/there. The klowns themselves are what sells it. Hell, just let them loose over in Springfield plaza.

I still wish they'd use the scrapped "Killerz" scarezone concept. It's got the scareactor designs. Use it.
IO5XBpG.jpg

Also, I'd love for this never-done concept to finally be used as well...
"In 19th century France, restrictive laws and social norms prevented medical colleges from acquiring the one asset they need most – human cadavers. To solve this “body shortage crisis,” universities employed “unsavory characters” to do their dirty work and steal corpses from cemeteries in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the grave robbers on Universal Studios Hollywood’s French Street have developed a morbid fascination with the dead – and a taste for human flesh!"
I1929h4.jpg

The event can do more than 3-4 scarezones... hell 2008 had "The Strangers" hanging out near Animal Actors and classified it as a scarezone. It was ridiculous last year having French St blocked off for RIP.. That was a waste of a perfectly good street & since RIP has been trimmed down to Orlando standards of little-to-no extra fluff, its an unnecessary option, especially when it means one less scarezone. Hell, considering baker street remains partially accessible due to the bathrooms back there, it wouldn't kill them to have a small handful of zombies ("walkers") on the loose (like 4 or 5) especially with TWD queue right there. The Lower Lot is going to be an interesting clusterf*ck this year due to no JP, no JP queue maze, BUT two popular IPs (Stranger Things & Trick R Treat).

Baker street, Springfield plaza, & Lower Lot don't need a lot of scareactors or to be fully themed zones. Just a very small cast each to make the event feel not-so-empty. Hell, if they can put Academy of Villains on the lower lot for their 2 "after party nights" in 2015, they can still make it a scarezone. 2014's "Skullz" only had roughly 4-6 scareactors anyway.

One of the issues with last year was that the metro sets had 3 of the weakest mazes at the event, so it didn't draw the masses back there like in 2016. If you don't spread the masses out properly between the mazes, you end up with longer lines for whatever is closest as well as fill the streets with bored unhappy guests.

Amidst all of this confusion about what we’re getting, you know what I’m gonna do? Wait for the announcements.

Yeah, what a concept. Wait for official info and move on to other more pressing matters in life. I think we all should do that.

The line up seems to change every two weeks. I’m just gonna throw in the towel and hope and pray there won’t be black walls.

I think what Freak is saying (and what I've been saying lately) is there's a difference between speculation and talking about the event as if we KNOW what the mazes are.

It's really annoying (as stated previously) when someone in the know every two weeks goes "apparently there's such and such troubles with such and such property so it was changed last second to something vague and such and such." Come on, the line up doesn't change THAT much. And sure enough, come a year from now during a Q&A, Murdy will say that was all rumors and the line-up was confirmed December 2017 and/or only ONE maze changed.

Nobody here knows. Maybe one or two, and I'm willing to bet even they don't know for sure, because I'm again willing to bet even their sources aren't 100% concrete. Unless you were told DIRECTLY by an "above the line" source (I'm using a filmmaking term because I don't know what else to call it haha), then you're probably getting smoke up your arse.

"We already know Halloween isn't coming." DO WE? DO WE REALLY KNOW THAT? "I think it's possible we'll get HALLOWEEN 4 since two years ago we had Halloween 2" is actual speculation. "The new Halloween fell through so they're doing Halloween 4 instead" is plain out making crap up. Even if you don't say that directly and are just saying that vaguely until people are hot or cold. Sorry, but nobody here is good at being a carny, and it's very easy to figure it out, so you might as WELL say it because whoever your source was at that point is gonna be in trouble when the rumor mill is directed in that area by constant replies to when people are "wrong" and then suddenly they're right and then replying to those replies as if they are right. That's as subtle as a brick in the face and if I were an executive, I'd know exactly who spilled the beans either way and who should be reprimanded, and if I were leaking my news to you, I'd know you no longer could be trusted with such information.

Maybe y'all should make a Rumor Mill thread instead while speculators do what they do best and speculate. It's worked for years and we've been about 70-80% right in the past, with one or two mazes off. Have there been leaked line ups before? Sure. But have a handful of people known why and what it's replacing and when and where the mazes are going, while knowing also the scarezones & tram before Murdy himself has even written the scarezones and tram? It can get silly.

Here's the best ways to speculate:
- Fan requests
- Timing of movies, shows, other media
- For classics (anniversaries, associations with directors, fan requests)
- Orlando's event which does have legit leaks
- Process of elimination of IPs and what we have left

And honestly, that's about it. Anything else is just poppycock. If you got a legit source, DM everyone the line-up and call it a day instead of these guessing games to make yourself feel special.

I think Hollywood needs to understand that it's ok to have originals. Save IPs so that you don't end up having to reuse them.

I wish that were the mentality, but as it was said somewhere, Murdy has point blank said he could do Freddy every year and the fans would still come in droves. I like the IPs but 2 or 3 originals every year would freshen up the line-up SO MUCH... as long as they were La Llorona/El Cucuy/Welcome To My Nightmare quality. Anything after that... it was very clear the originals were at the bottom of the imagination barrel.

And we've also seen how some of the IPs are treated by Murdy as well... very little effort made (Curse of Chucky sz, Scream terror tram, Jigsaw, Ash vs ED, etc etc) unless its something he actually cares somewhat about.

You know what? I think we're in for a ride while we try to figure out what's going with what properties, and I don't think the lineup switching is going to stop anytime soon. Until we see announcement videos, I'm pretty sure we're not gonna know, at least for certain, what each maze is going to be. So I say screw trying to find the "real" lineup. I have a fantasy lineup, and if I believe that if I wish hard enough, it'll come true!

So here we gooooooo:

- Waterworld - The Conjuring: Look who finally decided to come to HHN
- Parisian Courtyard - Universal Classic Monsters: Dr. Caligari also shows up
- SS29 - Stranger Things: Into the Upside Down
- The Mummy - Trick R Treat: Godzilla also shows up
- Metro - Hereditary: *cluck*
- 747 - Suspiria: Mother of Sighs 3D
- FDTD - Del Toro's At The Mountains of Madness

(I'm mostly joking, but I just watched Hereditary and I kind of really want it as a maze now. That ending.)

I've never seen Suspiria, but I know the environments are pretty trippy and 3D worthy (and most importantly, 3D worthy that FITS the IP). With the remake out this year and possibly having a bit more material, is this an overlooked property? You may be on to something. Hereditary DID have an insane ending, I'd love to see it in a maze, preferably a mash-up maze. Maybe A24 will do a few more horror movies and we can get one in the future with stuff like The Witch, It Comes at Night, etc. [as low key and obscure as those are both in fandom and horror elements for a maze, but Hereditary is kind of a hit, so that could be the star of that attraction].
I have high hopes and faith for Conjuring with The Nun coming out this year and Annabelle 2 being such a big hit. Luckily, if HHN doesn't do it, than WB will (but unluckily, it might be bad, so who knows).
Del Toro has always wanted to do that project and has basically said it's dead as a movie. BUT he may want to make it come to life as a maze and that could be perfect (I mean, idk, I have no idea what his story actually entails). It'd be a great original maze and redeem Del Toro from Crimson Peak. Also, imagine how big that headline would be that the now OSCAR WINNING Del Toro is making a maze for HHN. Would that be a first?

When John leaves and Miramax gets bought out they better go for Scream. Deserves a maze and there’s enough environments that make it unique.

As for Oscar winning properties, I see no way that they won’t do Get Out if a Blumhouse 2 happens. It was a big hit and Universal owns it

Except it doesn't exactly offer up much of anything worthwhile for a maze. People need to drop it/get over it already. The only reason it was a success was due to its (controversial?) loose "invasion of the body snatchers" plot. "Oh but but the sunken place!" ah yes, any excuse for Murdy to just have a few rooms of black walls  We've been over this multiple times last year. You want to represent "Get Out"? fine. Use the deleted skeleton deer with a blacklight strobe. Sure people love the movie, doesn't mean its fit for a haunt event.

Also... something having to be a big popular hit is Murdy's way of thinking and the reason why the event isn't fully evolving like it should. Mummy didn't exactly do well like Universal had hoped, but you know what? It probably would've made a cool maze last year (of course that'd require to have a stronger creative team & NOT have the creative director be in a different country).

The Pre-2006 years of HHN here didn't worry too much about big name IPs... instead they had big names help create mazes. Although i'd still kill to see that Buffy/Angel maze from 2000.
