Most of the houses every seem to be bigger and bigger then the previous yr.. Lets work on making the event scary.

My biggest hopes for the houses this year is to have every one scary in some way. Don't want to sounds like a tough guy because I'm definitely not but there were some houses the past couple years where I wasn't scared in the slightest, not my timing either stuff like both havocs and walking deads didn't phase me at all. If every house can scare me this year then bravo to them. If the streets are gonna be last minute like everybody is saying this year then the houses better be amazing

Yep, I'm glad they're going bigger and better set wise...HOS has them beat in scares right now though

It's almost impossible to beat HOS on that regard. Same houses but equally as terrifying every single time I go though. I swear to god they must give those actors some sort of pill because they go 100% all night. They are insane and almost impossible to beat in the haunt industry. Not to say HHN actors aren't good (far from it) but damn

The secret is HOS isn't quite as pretentious as HHN..yet

Yeah, I hope this year the scare actors actually try to scare me, like last year they'd walk up to me and then back away and go look for someone else...

From a newbie standpoint I was scared through every house.

Walking Dead scared me due to the incredible volume and sheer darkness around the building..and it was the first house we did. So I was jumpier than I was at the end of the night.

La Llorona was terrifying because of the children (creepy suckers) and the placement of the scares and the environment. Loved that house! I would say this style of scare is what we need.

Afterlife was easily the house that got me the most due to the sheer amount of disorientation I was experiencing haha.

Havoc II--I could see absolutely everything...no scare here

American Werewolf in London wasn't scary for me in the sense of people jumping out at me. The environment and sheer immersion along with the puppets is what got me the most.

Resident Evil was laughable.

Cabin in the Woods was cool and definitely got me the best but it was at the right time that they got me.


So with all of that said I think the level of immersion, story, and the actors will tell the tale for this year.

That's another discussion all together but I definitely agree, it might sound selfish of me but I do think they should have more voices instead of audio clips for HHN. There's a GIANT difference between somebody screaming at you and hearing a clip, sure you get that "sometimes" in the streets but man there is nothing scarier than a murderer actually screaming in your ear. I've seen people cry at howl o scream because of that

So with all of that said I think the level of immersion, story, and the actors will tell the tale for this year.

Definitely agree with everything you said, my reactions too. I'm a string bean and I get scared easily but when it comes to some houses it's just laughable to me. They do get all the details right though. Every house last year had some sort of wow moment and I plan for that this year too

My cousin spent the evening clutching the back of my shirt with her face buried in my back. One actor in the CITW house saw her and then began to stalk her and screaming in her ear...one of the many times I was thrown in to a wall out of her fear

See? That's what I'm talking about. A group of werewolves at howl o scream 2011 made this drunk girl fall on her ass. They pounced and howled at her until she started crying and I swear to god this 30 year old woman was sobbing like a 5 year old. Pretty sure you couldn't get that out of audio

Wow it's understandable since they actually have characters based on IPs but still that's pretty dumb. Especially when it comes to original characters
