What are you talking about? The tagline totally brings the entire event together. I mean would last year's have even been nearly as good without the overarching theme of Evil Takes Root?!?!?!

Do it right or don't do it...you run the risk of the tagline turning back on you..

Thanks!!! But has there ever been a good tag line? All of them sound a bit weird and sometimes sexual. "Say my name three times"

"It's showtime", "The house always wins", "A new era of darkness begins" were all good and acceptable.

Any rumors on Universal releasing a new house or scarezone this week. We are less than two month out.

OK, I made that up.

"A new era of darkness begins" has held pretty true so far, it just seems that people do not like this era...

Hey, he atleast has as much validity as the bus drivers. That would also actually be scarier than the other houses. The heat of the kitchen with Gordon Ramsay cussing at you on the top of his lungs....I just scared myself thinking about it

I wonder if there will be any video game IP houses. Silent Hill in 2012 and Resident Evil in 2013. I think it would be awesome to have a Bioshock themed house.

I don't think there will be a video game house this year. While I'd love a bio shock maze I'd probably be for the best. They never turn out that great anyways

That one scene in Saws and Steam: Into the Machine where there are all the pipes and the water wall with the strobe lights and the scare actor in the diver suit reminded me of a Big Daddy from Bioshock.

The whole vibe of that house was Bioshock.

Interestingly enough, what was first designed as a Bioshock house became "Havoc: Dogs of War" after the rights weren't able to be secured. This is during the same time that Universal was excited to make a Bioshock movie with Gore Verbinski directing, but eventually Ken Levine, who in the contract had Rowling-level control, pulled the rights because Universal didn't want to devote more than $75 million to the budget. The environments for the house were already under construction, but were then adapted to the sort of prison/sewer theme that ended up as "Havoc".

Interstellar Terror is another example of a licensed house not getting the rights - it was planned as a Dead Space house until July of that year, when the rights weren't secured and it was decided to make it generic.

I've heard rumblings of a video game house this year. Something from the house of Sonic.
Edit: Read through the thread. No one has guessed it but they've come close.

The only viable SEGA property is House of the Dead, and that doesn't have the following/brand awareness/success to make it to HHN.

I'm going to call BS. Literally none of that is true. Interstellar Terror was based off of Event Horizon, while HAVOC cheaply (but effectively) reused the sets of The Spawning (and Dead Exposure and Clown-O-Vision before it); there's literally no way they were prepping a Bioshock house in that location, not to mention that time... the movie was barely in pre-production, they wouldn't produce a tie-in house until much closer to the film's release date when an actual production design had been established.

You realize you can't have a house that "doesn't get the rights" but then "pretty much uses the same concept anyway," right? There has to be some plausible deniability in the design. When AWIL rights got nixed in 2012, we didn't get "generic Werewolf house with suspiciously similar sets with some changes," we got Silent Hill.

Dead Space has been looked at, granted, but it wasn't in 2008. Much more recently, actually.

Also, no Sega houses, unless you're referring to that awful Alien vs. Predator games they make. The Alien vs. Predator house will take more from the films.

Nice try, though.

I think Universal should do another house themed off a video game. I thought the Silent Hill house in 2012 was very well-done and accurate as the game/movie. Last year, although I'm a big Resident Evil fan, the house didn't really do it for me. I was kind of getting put off between a Resident Evil house and a regular zombie-themed house. I mean sure there were SOME references to the game, but other than that it didn't really express the Resident Evil theme.

I would love to see an Outlast house (which was the scariest game I've played in a while). Walking through Mount Massive Asylum, getting encountered by patients, the crazy doctor, and by Chris Walker. That would be intense!
