This isn't the first time I've seen this argument, but my curiosity is piqued. TV shows (especially now) don't actively compete with each other over viewership. Someone who watches a dramatic show with horror elements on Sundays at nine is not unable to watch a horror show with drama elements on Wednesdays at ten. Even being on separate channels, the two shows are not in direct competition. The audiences have a lot of overlap, but bringing in both doubles the incentive to attend for those who watch both while extending an interest for those who only watch one. They're not mutually exclusive.
