Agreed. This year feels off.
I personally enjoyed the houses more last year I think even with the COVID stuff.
I have the same sentiment as well - solid 3/4 houses, but the rest are very forgettable.
This year's theme is great but being held back by the atrocious park music.
Heavier crowds this year are making it difficult to enjoy the event. (Surprisingly, the Weeknd hasn't made the big impact expected...yet).
Just feels SUPER neutral. It reminds me a lot of HHN 26 or 28. I don't think I'll look back and say "Wow, that was NOT a great year", looking at you HHN20, 22 & 23, but I don't think I'll look back on it memorably either. It has some houses that have been good but nothing overall great.
I do feel like it's a move in the right direction with houses & streets, but BOY is it a step back operationally.
One thing I have personally noticed, is that most of the houses this year feel repetitive ( the rooms feel repetitive)
I'm not talking about the quality, at all,
But, let's say Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake, as amazing as it is, every room feels similar to each other. ( Descendants of Destruction, chupacabra, coven, bug house)
It Seems like all the originals are kind of repetitive. ( Even if they have good concepts)
I really like Descendants but the whole house feels like one long room
Some people might love this, but on repeat visits it feels a little monotonous.
The rooms in the houses last year felt more varied. Variety Within the same house.
I know everyone has their favorite houses, but this year it just kinda feels repetitive. (Coven does change by the end but it wasn't good enough)
That can be one reason that I don't feel as excited for repeat visits. I don't know. The house concepts are good but last year's houses felt more unique.
