Well, let's be fair here. A lot of these people criticizing the announcement all had the same reaction we did when we first heard the rumor back in, what was it, March? Of course we're now going to gladly accept it now that its grown on us after knowing about this for months, but the normies heard about this just now.

Though I like a few of his songs, I'm not a huge fan of the Weeknd but I'm willing to give it a shot! Might be one of the best houses there! Besides, you know the GP is gonna love hearing Blinding Lights in there.

Though I like a few of his songs, I'm not a huge fan of the Weeknd but I'm willing to give it a shot! Might be one of the best houses there! Besides, you know the GP is gonna love hearing Blinding Lights in there.

Admittedly, being out of the loop when it comes to anything considered The Weeknd that isn't the Superbowl Hall of Mirrors on Mirrors living meme, it took me a little bit to dig it.

I sat down one night, rolled up some completely legal medicinal herb, and watched ALL of his top rated music videos and short films on youtube.
VERY QUICKLY i understood exactly what Horror Nights was going for.
I was skeptical but not dismissive. Anyone in a similar position can do the same, should they seek education.

If The Weeknd does well critically, then we should be getting one new music house per year. I’m also on board for Lady Gaga, since she would easily bring up the weirdness to another level. For me personally, I want a house based on The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails the most that is both lyrically and literally a psychological horror album.

Now that we (finally) have The Weeknd officially announced, and with there being no more IP's... Next announcement is probably a full event dump, right? Same as last year, just dump all the originals, scare zones and shows in one big announcement, and from there just let the countdown begin.

And what if, hypothetically, that full dump is next week? Early August, about the same time as the dump last year? Or, like I mentioned previously, on the 2nd which is exactly 31 days out from opening night?

For those who have done the character dining in the past, what is your personal review of it? Is the food at least decent? Buffets can turn some people off.

We went the first two years it was offered.

• Decor was awesome, given the location. Not sure what they will do in the new location.
• Food was fine. I don't remember anything jumping out as being bad. Even though it was served cafeteria style (you go thru the service line and point and grunt at the food you want and it's handed to you - not as gross as some buffets can get), you can go through the line as many times as you want for second helpings.
• There were neat fixed photo areas with some of the characters. Slightly disorganized (maybe since we usually went the first 1-2 weeks of the event?)
• The main reason for the event is the scare-actor interactions. Our experience was horrible in that regard. There should (IMO) been a pattern the scare-actors follow around the restaurant, ensuring they hit each table etc. We were skipped frequently both years. Chance just straight up ignored us and spent time at a friends' table for like 30 minutes. It's bad enough when the characters in the Vamp Scare Zones ignore paying guests and just chill and talk to friends. It's really bad when it happens during an expensive upcharge event. You can bet that Cinderella or Elsa are absolutely visiting every damn table at similar events down the road.

But this was all several years ago and we haven't been back since. I think there's a kernel of a good event there and they might very well have improved on these things in the intervening years.

I just hope we'd see that same energy in the comments if it was any of the Iron Maiden/Metallica/etc. that a certain demographic requests all the time.

Visual albums are very popular in the pop scene, and pop music has always been more visually provocative

I get there are exceptions

But pop is often paired well with visuals that easily translate into 'theater' which is what HHN is at the root of its being

To add, The Weeknd's stuff is easily translatable to the type of house HHN does IMO it's quite cinematic

I feel Iron Maiden or Metallica may come across very meh like Alice Cooper

It's unfortunate as Abel is more of a rock star than some modern day rock stars

I think they will be pleasantly surprised. Will they admit they're wrong? Of course not, only the greatest among us do

We can all admit that many aspects of HHN feel stale and routine. Weeknd is not that and that's why it's exciting

All that being said, there are several Twitter users that are quote tweeting every single person that doesn't like the Weeknd as a means for public embarrassment and chastisement

I think these types of behaviors are equally disappointing.
