As for SoX popping up or something in the same vein as that, I'm open to it. Admittedly, I wasn't too high on the original. I only had one runthrough and while I got some great scares in the first 1/4th, the timing unfortunately was off for the rest of the house so it was more middle of the road for me. That said, I did enjoy the sets and I really liked the sound design of that one.

I also think any sequel/prequel/spiritual successor could work incredibly well in a Sprung tent, so there's a chance it could improve for me!

Fun fact: soap was originally part of the Klownz plans but it got cut for obvious reasons.

I Don’t think we’ll ever get anything like that again, sadly. Maybe if it’s a scareactor only area, or they just blast as much bubbles as possible.

Lol no WAY we get that again..

I remeber being a little kid and being completely engulfed in soap and tripping on a curb

Good times

SoX is my all time favorite HHN house VERY NARROWLY beating out Slaughter Sinema. I'm getting excited.

The T&F have always felt like Klownz ripoffs to me.

I thought Seeds was a genuinely creepy, disturbing and depressing (in a good way) house. It used the quiet to its advantage. The best part though was the facade. With our current environmental concerns, much of the story told hit a bit too close to home.

The potential that Evil Dead Rise is the closest I’ll ever get to seeing a Demons 2 remake is all I need to gain my trust and appreciation. :)

There are certainly elements there...a lot of the early HHN stuff was inspired by some established horror counterpart

Seeds is in the upper echelon of HHN houses for me personally

2018 is the only year I missed since 2013, so I'm definitely having some feelings of envy.

Also, I love Ash and Bruce Campbell with all of my heart and The Evil Dead house based on the remake in 2013 was way better than the AvED house in 2017. You don't need his character to make a good Evil Dead house.

Yep. There was an earlier comment comparing Evil Dead/Ash to the hero scares in Stranger Things. You could have done a Stranger Things house without the heroes. You can’t do a Stranger Things house without the demogorgon. That’s why haunted houses are antagonist-focused and not protagonist-focused. YOU are the protagonist.

Just had a neat thought..just a thought tho based on nothing.
What if the witch house is another installment of scary tales. Have the wicked witch, the evil witch from Snow White and some other witches from fairy tales. Hansel and Gretel has a witch right?

Ash was the appeal of the original trilogy. The only consistent aspect of the franchise is the Deadites and the Necronomicrom. Not Ash.

I know I'm dredging up ancient history here, but I totally disagree about the non-Ash Evil Dead films. The series is special for two reasons - Ash (and the fact that the IP is one of very, very few protagonist-centered horror franchises) and Raimi, with all the humor and visual inventiveness that come with the pair. Without them, as in the Evil Dead remake, the series is a well-made but very generic horror film. With them, the series churns out cult classics. I suspect that, if the new entry follows the pattern of the remake, it will be well-done but unremarkable, forgotten in a few years. The Ash-Raimi films are beloved, culturally resonant an amazing 35 years later and their popularity will continue. There's just no way that's true of the episodes without either of the two key elements.

That being said, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness both need to be houses at HHN. The former in particular dwells in that space between horror and humor that often produces the very best houses. I'd love to see a house that attempts to replicates some of Raimi's signature camera tricks - how about a room at an extreme dutch angle?

The new merch drop at the IOA Halloween store sure does match the rumor of 'Classic Halloween' being part of the event this year.

Nice stuff, UPNT has a blog post on it yesterday.

‘The Black Phone’ Clips – Ethan Hawke’s “The Grabber” Showcases His Masks

The next big horror movie to arrive in theaters here in 2022 is Scott Derrickson‘s (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Doctor Strange) The Black Phone, which is headed to theaters on June 24. An adaptation of Joe Hill‘s short story, the film features four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke in the...

Am I the only one who is a little underwhelmed with the speculated lineup? I’m sure most of them, if not all of them, will be great houses because of the quality Universal points out. I’m just underwhelmed with the IPs. And the past few years, there’s been at least one original I was super stoked for. I don’t have that this year.

Edit: As I kept scrolling, I saw a few other people who shared the same sentiment. Glad I’m not the only one.

Naw I feel the same way. I feel this might be a weak year also. They seem to to go back and forth with weak/strong years so it's something I expect at this point.

"Why did we get The Walking Dead for 5 straight years?"

"Why are they going back to Halloween franchise?"

*see above comments*

Universal really lucked out with TWD and Stranger Things being the phenomenons they were. To me, this speculated year seems normal. I'd also like to point out that we know nothing other than speculated titles. Nothing about the contents of the houses, zones, or shows.

And ultimately, does the IP list matter if all the houses are good and you're having a good time?

I often say “the only IP that gets me excited is ___” or “I’m not very excited for ____ IP.” Though I think calling an entire year “underwhelming” based on house lineup alone is a bit ridiculous.

While obviously it can be kind of annoying to see a property you don’t like on the list, or disheartening to see a property you DO like not make the cut, going off the limb to say a whole event is underwhelming off the bat seems just like you’re asking for a bad time.

Even though the properties don’t make me jump for joy besides The Weeknd, I know I’m probably going to be shocked by how intense the actors in Blumhouse or Halloween are. And I mean, it’s always an absolute ball of an event so I know I’m gonna have fun.

I always go in either disappointed or excited about the IP's (and basing my entire outlook of a year on the IP's) and then end up having my favorite house be an original.

I love all of it and will be SO excited if that's part of the vibe for HHN this year.

Can someone familiar with The Weeknd give me a list of his videos that show his horror elements? I’m rly excited to probably see him at the event, but I’m not very familiar and I want to see what could be represented
