I gotta be honest with IPs like
-Chucky
-The Last of Us
-Blumhouse
- Evil dead Rise
-Saw
-Stranger Things
-Scream
all seemingly being possible IPs they could possibly go for or try to go for, I really don’t think they need or would even try to go for any “cult classic” or “white whales” this year. I don’t see any reason they would go for those now when possibly in a few years if there aren’t as many new IPs they can pull one of those to complete a IP line up.
Yeah that's a huge list. A really big ip list
I was hoping for something like return of the living dead for an 80s house or lost boys.
But your list is more than enough for this year.
Even just half of these covers it for the year.
Specially if these studios are already willing
Oh they absolutely are I just meant in general I wouldn’t expect any major horror classics when there’s all this modern horror that will only be relevant for this year
I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Ozzy vs the Weeknd. Honestly, I laughed out loud when you said that the Weeknd is more "horror like" than Ozzy. Ozzy has been horror since he started. I guess it's all subjective since from what I've seen of the Weeknd, the videos are in that slasher type vein, while Ozzy is all over the place classic horror imagery (religious symbology, bats, hell, werewolves, and even aliens - "scary little green men", etc). Anyway, I would enjoy the hell out of an Ozzy experience. He is the Prince of Darkness after all. LOL
I'm hoping for a little more creativy with the houses other than just slashers and zombies. I know a lot of you are excited about Chucky. I, personally, HATE Chucky.. maybe it's my age. I just find it mind-numbingly dumb. When you add things like Saw and Scream and even The Last of Us - you're talking about slashers and zombies which I thnk are all over done. I still have nightmares from the Walking Dead overkill. If I never see another zombie at HHN, it will be too soon. However, I'm sure it's coming again sooner than later in some form. They've already done Saw more than once and I hated it every time. It's like going through a zoo owned by a lunatic because all you see is one room after another with some kind of murderous gory setup. I find it boring.
I've said this before, but I'll say it again before anyone gets mad.. horror is a subjective thing. My opinions are just my opinions. I'm not disparaging anyone here or their taste in horror. I'm just old school, and I find more paranormal subject matter to be the scary stuff. Give me Phantasm, The Ring or The Conjuring any day. I also adore all the Uni monsters, so I'm good with that.
My fave houses tend to be the aggressive or traditional or eerie types like Scarecrow or Wicked Growth or Winter's Night or Gothic, etc. I also love it when they have done perfect representation of classics like Halloween from 2014 or American Werewolf or even Ghosbusters. I think each year, we need a house like that. I'd love a Lost Boys treatment akin to Halloween - perfectly created with obvious love by A&D.
I said this 3-4 years ago already but, music wise Iron Maiden is the biggest band in the world next to Metallica in fame and recognition ( even if you don't listen to metal you recognize Eddie)
I remember saying ( why are we getting Billie eilish when something like iron maiden is world wide famous and more huge) and the consensus was that while maiden might be big and horror related, Billie eilish would bring the young teen audience that hhn was craving.
While maiden has had the biggest concerts ever made on record ( biggest audiences of all time) and their entire album art is horror related
I remember everyone explaining that Billie eilish was more fresh and relevant for today. And that most teens don't know about maiden.
The conclusion to that conversation was that, while maiden might be more horror than Billie, and bigger in fame worldvwide, Billie eilish was more relevant and fresh at the moment.
Between something like maiden and Billie, it sounded like Billie was the best bet and the one that was more appropriate for the kind of young guest that hhn wanted
I bring this up because your Ozzy Osbourne post about the contrast with the Weeknd sounds almost identical to my post about iron maiden and Billie eilish.
And while Ozzy Osbourne is tailor made for hhn, it always sounds like hhn prefers something that will bring teens into hhn. ( I too would obviously prefer Ozzy. Metallica, or even Michael Jackson's thriller instead of more modern singers)
I did personally like the Weeknd house. But I'm still hoping for maiden lol.
