Then why do it in the original?

It was for fun to say the F word? I get what he means but think its more he doesn't want to fight the hands that feed him

I think he's willing to let Disney censor a few F's for the type of money they not only gave him for this project (which in and of itself was a very large sum), but he's also become a Disney favorite very quickly. From Moana, Mary Poppins Returns, to some lyrical work on the live action Little Mermaid and now a just announced new animated musical for WDAS, he stands to make a lot of money from Disney.

But he's also getting to do a bunch of other stuff. He's got an animated movie called "Vivo" coming out next year with Sony, "In The Heights" coming out next year with Warner Brothers, and "...tick, Tick, BOOM" coming out in 2021/2022 with Netflix. This is why i'm so surprised Hamilton ended up with Disney... they must've just had the biggest offer.

The Hercules Mulligan F bomb during Yorktown was censored out when they performed it during the Tony Awards. Really don't think it's a big deal.

It's all in creative editing. It's a 2 hour and 40 minute show and we're talking about just a couple of F-bombs to censor. It won't really ruin the experience at all. If they start censoring other words though, then we have an issue.

Censorship confirmed by LMM himself:

He still hopes to do a theatrical release one day:

There will be crowd noises:

ALL aspects of the show are included:

So based on what he's saying, we're going to actually get one F-bomb, which is one more than I thought we'd get.

It's just the trailing off "fuuuuuu".

As for other censorship, Say No To This will be uncensored:

Bastard and s**t won't be censored:

I guess I just don't get why Disney would pay $75M for the rights to this and try so hard to squeeze it into a PG-13 Rating? Just let it be an R-rating and make it known publicly that this is an outlier for Disney+.

Alright, so with the confirmation that all the other language is uncensored, I think I can live with a few F's censored over the course of an almost 3 hour musical.

So I know Lin cleared things up, but just for the record, there is no warning or any of that jazz in the details of the listing on Disney+:

As in a warning for language? Do they normally breakdown the reason for the rating classification on other titles?

Glad we're only about a week away from this. This show is the only thing thats made me feel prideful and a proud American in the last few years and the show itself is just genius. Ive been fortunate enough (well, my bank account has NOT been as fortunate due to it) to have seen Hamilton twice when it was in Boston. Just an incredible show and I hope it provides a great distraction for everybody next week!!!

No, but the Karen's are already losing their mind at the *possibility* of there being an F-bomb in this, along with all of the other curse words. They're saying this must mean Disney+ isn't family friendly anymore!

Maybe Disney+ needs a Kids section.

So for the sake of conversation, for how many of you will this be your first time seeing the show and for those that have seen it, where/when did you see it?

Personally, I looked at seeing it on Broadway for years when the Original Cast was still there, but I simply never was willing to pay the kind of money that tickets were going for on the resale market. I then thought about going when Lin performed in Puerto Rico. Ultimately, I saw the show in January 2019 during their stop at the Dr. Phillips Center. I believe in February they were in West Palm and Fort Myers, but I didn't realize it until it was too late. Here was my view (First Row, Mezzanine):

Pretty much the exact same story here. My show was January 30th 2019. The cast for that tour was fantastic. I still follow the Burr actor to this day on Twitter simply because of how much he killed it. This was my view (unfortunately might be the only stage pic I have):

I was a few days before you (27th). I ended up seeing the understudy Alexander Hamilton for the touring cast, but he was still extremely good.

I saw it on Broadway, right after Lin Manuel left the cast. I was second row center. It was... not cheap... but it was worth every penny.

Hopefully you still had Nik Walker as Burr and Shoba Narayanan as Eliza? Those were the biggest highlights for me.

So you saw Javier Muñoz then i'd assume, correct? Still jealous, especially with you getting second row center (especially since I actually think Javier is in some ways a superior Hamilton, just as he was in some ways with Usnavi). The price of the actual ticket wasn't the biggest deterrent for me. If I lived in NYC, I definitely would've spent the money. The thing I struggled with was all the extra money in airfare, hotel, etc, etc. At this point you're taking a whole-ass vacation, so might as well see other shows, too. I sort of talked myself out of it in that way by making the price tag so large

Just pulled out the playbill and yes, the insert lists both of them and now that you mention it, I do specifically remember Burr being absolutely phenomenal. Pierre Jean Gonzalez was Hamilton.

Had to go searching for a bootleg recording of a song with him, but it seems like Pierre Jean Gonzalez was probably a solid replacement. Joseph Morales kinda had a Lin vocal tone to him to an extent, but it admittedly took a song or two to really get comfortable with his voice after getting used to the soundtrack for so long

I have a bootleg of the entire second act sitting on my phone that I had forgot was even there until a little bit ago. Every once in awhile I go back to it and listen to certain parts, but for the most part it just sits there. I just hit record voice memo and left my phone in my pocket...

Brilliant  Taking notes for future shows. Wishing I would've done that for Beetlejuice and Hadestown earlier this year, especially now that one of those two is closed for good.

This is probably more of a reflection of the show more than anything, but this filmed version is being universally praised.

I’ve heard a few theater geek reviews that have little gripes about some of the shots they chose to use, no audience until after the second song (when normally they would erupt at the arrival of Hamilton coming on stage during “Alexander Hamilton”, etc. For the most part, I’m not even hearing any complaints about the censoring.

Especially for the people who have never gotten the chance to see the show, this seems to be a huge winner.
