Its been awhile but while having an adult beverage I decided to grab some pics of the Rockit, I know almost all of these are close ups but seeing people expressions is half the fun when YOUR not riding.

That is just cruel, taking a picture of someone in such angst, such fear!

From Screamscape:

General Park News - (4/7/11) Is the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit having some new growing pains this year? I haven’t seen any pictures of it yet, but I’ve been told the footers near the Library that hold up the Treble Cleff area of the ride have all been covered with black plastic. I know new concrete is often covered up with plastic to protect it from the rain and other moisture while it sets.

Alright everyone I'm headed to UO in about ten days and I've got a couple of questions about HRRR. First, is this sucker still rough? Or did they already correct that? Second, how intense is that first drop? I can do all sorts of inversion and turns and all that good stuff, but drops hurt he hell out of me. I can do dudley and jp and all of those, just wondering how much more intense that first drop is.

Wasn't rough at all the last time I was on, just hope you don't get the rough train which I THINK is #4.

And the first drop is just sweet  Very similar angle as both of those rides.

Rockit's drop has massive airtime. Far more than any water ride.

Looks like I'm going to have to man up and endure it then. Thanks for the feedback. Now I have a frame of mind heading in there.

Wait, how would a drop "hurt the hell out of" you? I'm confused. Airtime isn't ever painful for me, any ways...

Hurt as in the unpleasant feeling of your stomach rising. Some like it, others don't.

^this

I want to go sky diving really badly, but parachutes freak me out. I don't like the fact that a gust of wind could result in a trip to the ER.

I understand that people like it, which was the reason for asking how intense it was. Some people like it and don't consider it intense. I don't dig it as much. To each his own.

Well, after boycotting this sucka for a good 2 years I finally decided to give The Big Red Eyesore a test run. I got to ride it 4 times in one day. The first time I rode it, right after I pulled down the safety restraint the damn thing broke down. The ride attendants evac'd my car and we had to wait a good 20 + minutes until the ride was back up and rockin! Well, I chose Daft Punk for my first 2 rides and it synced up pretty well. Unfortunately the vid you could buy afterwards wasn't workin so I left to do some other rides. Around 7 Pm or so I hopped back in line and rode it another 2 times this time choosing Stronger (a much better fit if you ask me), before my second ride the damned thing broke down for another 20 + mins...AGAIN! Because it took so long to get the thing back up and rockin by the time I got back on it was dark, and let me just say that riding this puppy in the dark is a whole new ride. I LOVE the lights at night and the view, it's breathtaking!!! Overall, The ride wasn't too rough for me and I LOVE how it simulates the feeling of going upside down several times without actually going upside down. My favorite parts were the Verticle lift ("Your vehicle is going skywards"), The Treble Cleff (flippin crazy man), The Crowd Surfer (Wasn't expecting this part to be that intense, really threw me to the side, LOVED IT!), and The Trench Run (Great airtime in this part). The ride would get a higher rating from me, but it gets points deducted because it must break down like, 14 times each day, so my final score is 8.5/10. If I spent 2 years hating on this thing and ended up loving it ( It's still an eyesore nontheless) then I think it's safe to say that if we could just forget our complaints then most would really enjoy this ride. My official thoughts run like this : It's the coaster for people that don't like coasters. It has enough intensity to thrill most, but dials it down so that just about any age could enjoy it.

OH, and I'm still going to refer to it as The Big Red Eyesore because 1. IT'S TRUE and 2. out of fondness

Official rating: 8.5/10
