Horror Nights Wish List - Orlando

With Greg Nicotero commenting about Creepshow in Orlando, wouldn’t it be amazing if it were turned into a show at HHN and not a house or scarezone? Like what if they did a Creepshow themed Horror Make Up Show. Greg Nicotero is very well known for his special make up fx and it would work perfectly for the show. I am well aware it would never happen, but dang would it be cool.

Possibly unpopular opinion but I’d really like to see a horror musical at HHN someday. RHPS was before my time there (I know they have/had it at the theater on CityWalk though) and if there’s a way to put one somewhere, I’d be all for it.

I realize my biggest wish for this year could be coming true. I don’t like the reason why it could be coming true, but if we really get no rubber curtains this year...

If we can’t get a Little Shop House, I would gladly take a Little Shop show at HHN.

I’m just imagining people jumping out and singing at me, or just progressively going from room to room and seeing Audrey Two get bigger and bigger and I really wanna see that now!

As a lover of horror musicals myself, I'd LOVE to see this. It'd be a tough task but it'd be amazing to see a different 'musical comedy' version of a classic horror movie played out each year. I'd totally settle for a stripped down version of Evil Dead The Musical or a gorier version of a short StarKid play though!

Why iron maiden should come to hhn 1.Iron maiden I think it would be a perfect fit for the event, getting to see Eddie and hearing there music would be a dream come true not only for me but for other fans. In my opinion I think it would be a no brainer not only because they are extremely popular worldwide, and just that house alone would bring in lots of people. There merchandise would sell like crazy it would probably be the most popular merch at the event that year. also I don’t think the licensing would be hard or expensive to get. Hopefully they bring iron maiden one of these years because if they did I think it would be a very fun and scary house also it would make lots of profit for universal.
I totally agree an iron maiden maze would be incredible!!

I expected this thread to be slow... but I definitely expected more than 6 pages knowing how quickly the HHN spec thread is growing. I think it would be great to get this thread going a little bit considering the lack of information being released b/c of current events. With that being said I sat down and tossed together what I (personally) think the best HHN30 event would be. I'm spoiler tagging this because it's essentially an essay lol. While creating this: I did not consider Covid-19 or its effects on the event whatsoever, nor did I take any rights issues into consideration. This is purely blue sky though it does kind of mix in or build upon some rumors that have been floating around this year.

Please let me know what you guys think!

Marketing: even though Fear is present as a host of sorts in a house, I would not want him to be present in the marketing. Rather, I think marketing would revolve around the headlining IP's. That's all for the boring part.

HOUSES: There is a 5/5 Original / IP split, if you include Universal Monsters as an IP. Looking back on it there are A LOT of anthology houses... but hey this is the wish list thread so anthology houses it is!

Universal Monsters (Soundstage 24)

I seem to be in the minority when it comes to last years house. Personally I thought it was good, not great. There was definitely a lot to like, but I for one would love to see a castle facade and larger than life sets. This house would be anthology-like, as last years was, but would add the invisible man (not from the recent movie) and would build upon the sets greatly.

The house would go something like:

- Facade and first rooms: Frankenstein's Castle

- Wolfman is in a forest similar in size to the swamp scene in Dead Waters, wearwolf puppets are used as well as upright actors

-Mummy: Large full body Anubis Statues are visible, not just their feet

-Creature from the Black Lagoon

-Invisible Man: similar to how hollywood did it but with better sets

- Hunchback

-Phantom of the Opera

- Bride of Frankenstein

Finale: Dracula / Brides of Dracula

IT (Soundstage 22)

This one is pretty self-explanatory. This and another property on this list are by far the biggest IP's yet to come to the event. The house would only be based off of the first movie and the second movie would be featured at HHN31

30 Years of FEAR (Soundstage 25)

This house is essentially building off of the rumored "Icon" house this year. It would be hosted by the Icon Fear, but he would only be present at the Facade as a barker type scareactor. Also, I'm gonna put a crap ton of facades in this house cause im a sucker for facades inside of the house itself. Double also, this house is gonna be longgggg.

The house would go something like:

Facade: Something similar to the facade for the Fallen at HHN27, with Fear present as a barker scareactor

(Vortex Tunnel)

Screamhouse with the Caretaker after you

The Orfanage on fire with Cindy after you

(Big Universal Theater facade)

Walking down dark movie isle with something playing on a screen ahed of you. People are telling you to shhh! and the ushers flashlight can be seen streaking across the screen. Usher scare at the end

We walk through the screen and into a snuff film directed by Paulo Ravinski

Turning the corner, there's a cabin type house.. The story teller is sitting on the porch laughing creepily. She is another barker type scareactor who is telling you the story of Terra Cruentas. As you walk up into the cabin, there is an open book instead of a front door. Lighting makes the center of the book look like a portal

Couple rooms with the Terra Queen who we see make a sacrifice on some poor lad.

Transition into Mary Agana's office and then a room full of mirrors with bloody mary scares

Turn corner into big casino scene with normal and succubus Lady Luck scares

(Big facade of Jack's Funhouse)

We walk through Jack's Funhouse and we see his box which he jumps out of. Chance is also present in a couple boo holes

Finale: Still in Jacks Funhouse, all of the Icons are jumping out at us now and there is a bungee scare from Fear who dives down at you

Camp Roanoke (Soundstage 24)

This house is NOT a sequel to Roanoke: Cannibal Colony from HHN24, but is rather something I just kinda came up with on the fly. As easy as it would be to make and discuss, my dream event wouldn't only have rehashed ideas, so this is my "new original" for the year.

The house would start at a teenage summer camp located in Salem, Massachusetts. Things would go wrong in classic fashion when the kids recite an ancient prayer during a blood moon and awaken the awful creatures that ravaged Roanoke so many years ago. The monsters would not be human and they would not eat people, but rather just maul them and kill them.
I'm thinking big wendigo type creatures like this (but in the house it would have wings):
1592345920737.png
This house would have spaced out sets and a decent amount of show scares / stilt scares and could end up being very timing dependent... but i think overall it would make for a visually stunning and gory house!

Finale: the camp residents that survived have tied down the wendigo and are burning it at the stake. The wendigo screeches maaaddddd loud and swipes at you as you're leaving.

Anarchade: New Dimensions (Shrek Theater):

I freakin love the aesthetic that last year's zone had, and would love to see a house that substitutes traditional sets for a rather disorienting and surreal neon light show. Literally just blast synth music, have some arcade-like set pieces, throw some stilt walkers in there with wigs and gaudy neon glasses and add a bunch of neon chainsaws. Though it wouldn't be anything spectacular in the sets or scares departments - I think this house would be an absolute blast to go through!

I would take with or without the 3-D effect... don't really care.

Titans of Terror (New Parade Building):

Facade: projector that just shows some cool kills from the 5 different slashers. That's all we have really seen for this location and I'd be fine with just that for this house.

First Room is a movie theater lobby with movie posters that drop down and have one of the slashers behind them.

From here we see iconic scenes from

Halloween (1978)

TCM (1974)

Friday the 13th (1980)

Nightmare on Elm Street (abstract take, not tied to specific movie)

Scream (1996)... Side Note: it would be cool to have the original Halloween movie playing on a TV in one of these scenes

Finale is movie theater again with all the slashers coming at you

The Horrors of Netflix (Old Parade Building):

Featuring (in order):

Haunting of Hill House (which is also the facade inside)

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Stranger Things (finale of house is battle of starcourt done right this time)

Scarecrow: All Hail the King! (Sprung 1)

In a massive twist, the oft-rumored "Pumpkin King" maze is actually the much desired Scarecrow: The Reaping sequel!

In another twist, that Pumpkin King is actually Nathaniel Crowe!

Basically this house brings to life the long awaited character of Nathaniel Crowe and pits him as the leader among an army of undead scarecrows.

Scenes in this house would not take place on a depression era farm, but rather on a farm that is currently lived on during a massive lightning storm (This is wish list so screw it, i wanna see rain in a Sprung) as well as underground caverns and Crowes lair.

The Finale: Crowes lair with a bunch of scarecrows and a stilt walker Nathaniel Crowe

The Conjuring (Sprung 2)

This is that other IP on the list with "It". I've never seen any of these movies but if they came to the event I would watch them in a heartbeat. I would assume the facade would be the house that it takes place at, cause that's what they've done with similar haunted houses (TCM, Halloween, Insidious), but other than that IDK what would go inside of it. I just know I want to see it at HHN

Legendary Truth: Secrets of the Dungeon

The year is 1991, Legendary Truth agents are investigating an abandoned roadside attraction outside of Carey, OH seemingly called "Dungeon of Terror". There have been several disappearances in the area that have been linked to that specific location and many have claimed to see paranormal activity in the vicinity.

While searching for clues inside the haunted attraction, one of the agents mistakenly activates a time loop, bringing them (and you) back through all of the suspicious happenings in Carey, OH over the past 30 years.

Facade: Dungeon of Terror OG facade but with scaffolding and paranormal monitors covering it

First Room: Legendary truth agents are scanning the area for paranormal activity. One of them accidentally opens a time loop There are no scares from boo holes in this scene it's simply setting everything up.

HOUSES / ZONES REVISITED:

The Skoolhouse (2008)
Leave it to Cleaver (2009)
Wyandot Estate (2009)
Havoc: Dogs of War (2010)
Catacombs: Black Death Rising (2010) (took place in Carae, France)
H.R. Bloodengutz (2011)
Gothic (2012) (took place in Carae, France)
Hive (2017)
Twisted Tradition (2018)

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here by double posting but it wouldn't let me post anything more than 1,000 words.

SCAREZONES

Ave of the Stars:
Creepshow (would be converted to maze at HHN31)

New York: Psychoscareapy: Independence Day:

Would have a fireworks mini show where the asylum patients crash it. A bunch of stuff would probably be on fire. And everyone is dressed in 4th of July attire. Basically the zone from 25 but exchange Halloween with July 4.

South Street: Rock'n'Roll : Hall of Flames

I'll be honest, I'm surprised I am putting this on here as music houses or scarezones have never really appealed to me. However, I have seen enough people on this forum actively want a zone or house based on various rock'n'roll or metal bands that it has made me actually want to see it for myself - even if I'm not particularly familiar with many of the bands featured.

Not to mention, I really liked the Rob Zombie zone last year so I think A&D would be able to make something great using the imagery from the following:

Iron Maiden

Slipknot

Rob Zombie

Metallica

Black Sabbath

San Fransisco: All Night Die-In: Slaughter Sinema

YEAHHHHH BABY!!

World's Fair and Springfield: Prison type Chainsaw Drill Team and Clown Chainsaw Drill Team respectively

Hollywood: Terra Guard Run

complete with bone choppers and everything... Mini show of Terra Queen making a sacrifice and at the end of the event she will sacrifice herself. Sweet.

SHOWS:

Mels Diner Outdoor Stage:
Academy of Villains: All Hallows Eve

Academy of Villains would finally return to their outdoor venue with an all new show that revolves around the organic spirit of Halloween
This show would run on an alternating schedule with....

Lagoon Show: Marathon of Mayhem: 30 Year Scaretacular

A celebration of Halloween Horror Nights that revisits special moments in the events history.

Fear Factor Live: Bill and Ted's Reunion Tour

Yeahhhh it's probably way too early for this to be an effective reunion tour - but screw it I can't lie and say I don't want to see Bill and Ted back.

I would hope that they reference the fact that they returned way too early. I can't imagine how a B&T show written for 2020 would even go, and to be honest I don't really want to. But in a fantasy world all time greatest HHN30 I would want the show there.

So that pretty much does it! This actually took me a pretty long time to write out so thanks to all who read it! Hopefully this can spice things up around these parts lol. Im gonna work on creating an event map for this.

I really would love a Wendigo house, since the deer variant of the creature is wonderfully freaky and I'm all for any kind of creature/cryptid kind of themes. (Really bummed I never got to attend 26, since Tomb of the Ancients looked right up my alley.) So it's a tad disappointing that the couple houses that have tried to do a Wendigo has missed the mark, if not the design of them as well.

Yeah I agree with you about Monsters last year. Thought it was a very solid house (LOVED the projections out front, the statues, Hunchback, and the final Frankenstein scare) but not great; felt that using it at 29 was like eating dessert before dinner (although maybe they feel that was a smart decision with everything that's happened this year).

Also, the "lots of anthology houses" part is probably pretty accurate to what we're actually getting. Had a lot of fun reading your list. :)

Trying to think of my "dream HHN 30"...bout halfway there (a lineup that would sadly be impossible even without you-know-what):

-Reflections of Fear: Shattered
-Terra Cruentes: Season of the Queen
-Scarecrow: The Pumpkin King (same as the above idea, but on the farm from the original)
-HR Bloodengutz Presents: Universal Monster MURDER-thon! (in Hellgate, holding the guards hostage and torturing them in ways related to the monsters--stabbing them in the neck for Dracula, drowning them for Creature, covering them with red meat and unleashing guard dogs on them for Wolfman, and of course 'Ol Smokey for Frankenstein)
-The Unseen (house with a giant spider monster hunting you, relies on darkness and sensory effects, with a massive spider puppet-actor combo at the end)
-Haunting of Hill House

Go to a midnight showing at your local art house theater. It’ll be better than the HHN stage show - although the stage show was a fun break the years they had it.

Sweeney Todd could be a gorgeous house. I can imagine the cut-throat-"blood spurt" scene being a crowd pleaser in my head.

Doom, maaaaaaaan. I'm pretty sure it's talked about every single year in the spec thread the moment the "are video games viable?" conversation happens, but god I can't describe how fun it would be to be trekking through the labs on Mars as demons jump out at you and every now and then Doomslayer pops out with his chainsaw or various guns. That plus the music (BFG Division, for example) blasting throughout the house would be absolutely astonishing.

I wonder what kinda building would fit it the most? I feel like it could even fit in a tent if done correctly.

Am I the only one hoping Dr. Sleep slowly will become a cult classic and we could potentially see it at HHN eventually?

I think the time has passed for it, with the small window it had to begin with. Even if it does become a cult classic, I can't imagine it being a name brought up when discussing IPs to bring to the event.

That said, I loved the movie and would love to see their spin on a house. Could be a little touchy with how reliant the antagonists are on stalking younger victims though.

It just got put back on Netflix which renews my hope of both Season 4 and it becoming a house: Slasher. It's a fantastic murder mystery anthology series, with each season being a different whodunnit. Seasons 2 and 3 were done by Netflix, and their settings are perfect for houses.

Here's one that would never happen but I think could be super interesting. The Cornetto Trilogy. All of them. I know Shaun of The Dead has been featured in an anthology house, but I'm unsure if it could hold down an entire house. Imagine a majority of the house being Shaun of The Dead, but then we get some of the kills from the hooded figures and the castle/crypt from Hot Fuzz, after that we get some Blank scares (with those super scary siren sounds), and a finale with each of Simon Pegg and Nick McFrost's characters jumping out. Throw in cool stylized posters in between each film and you have a great and pretty intense comedy house.
