You know, people around here are always talking about adding an attraction in the Trike area or expanding it into the Discovery Center area also & putting in a coaster. And the commentary often speaks of the small area available. While I was out today I drove past our local park, Kennywood. And then it struck me. About five years ago they put in a new coaster. The park has an extremely small footprint, so they never have much room to work with. Right in front of me was the Sky Rocket, It's a 52" ht. restriction, Lunch Coaster, 0 to 50 in under three seconds, 95' vertical jump with a 90 degree plummet and lots of inversions. I rode it the first years it was open and its fun & smooth as all heck. But low capacity like most coasters. Really good looking and fairly unobtrusive. And best of all it has such a small footprint that it probably doesn't take up much more than a acre of land, if that. Now that's something that they could easily fit into the remainder of the Trike area with lots of room to spare. And you wouldn't need to extend it to near the Discovery Center, and ruin the ambiance of the island. Theme it up a bit, and you'd have a nice addition to JP. And it being behind the lake and buildings, not occupying much of an area, it wouldn't be much of a sight line restriction.
There are some great small coasters out there. El Loco takes up virtually no space and is brilliant.
I don't think it would be right for a Universal park but it shows what could be done. I think JP has so much content that even the smallest of rides can be made into great ones and themed wonderfully.
Even take the El Loco coaster for example, put that inside the raptor area with tall walls and a few AAs and it would be a nice small edition.
*Cracks knuckles*
..this is going to be a..interesting one for me. So, I have been looking at SkyRocket, and even looking at it; I can easily see it fit in..only if they make some slight adjustments.
These are those adjustments..
So..let me explain..
Raptor Encounter would have to move to be more closer to the JPRA entrance (dark brown..) where it'd have a brand new entrance line, surrounded by newly planted greenery..(Yellow and brighter brown). As for the surrounding area of the ride that i'd call..and you'll love this; "Raptor Hunt", it'd get a brand new rock façade, very similar to the rockwork done in the lagoon (teal). The catch, is that to the right of Thunder Falls Terrace, facing Skull Island, there would be a brand new transitional tunnel, so those entering Skull Island from JP are transported to the un-inhabited island. There on for the side facing Kong, the rockwork would follow similar to whats already at Kong; allowing an easy sense of immersion.
As for the ride, the red is the line/exit paths, with the puke green in my representation, a gift shop that has RE and RH exiting within eachother. As for the ride itself, the beige color is basically; a indoor beginning, very similar to Black Mamba from the park; Phantasialand. As for the ride itself, the ride would have extensive theming; remembling to the jungle. There'd also be Raptor AAs around the area, and viewing areas for guests to see the riders being launched.
..I would point out, that I suck at scaling, but hopefully; I have brought my point to it very well, in a way that shows a way to do a coaster.
The catch-22 to this, and as unfortunate to it, Camp Jurassic would have to get RAZED for this project. That being said, if the rides line would be entirely indoors, they can pay massive tribute to one of the best parts of Camp Jurassic, the caverns.
