It's not true - and they've officially made the "no link" list, along with ITM and TPR.

I can’t lie, that’s a very reasonable “no link” list.

USF needs Pokemon far more anyways.

The ONLY reason this would ever remotely make sense is that TL theatre, if added to this land, makes it MASSIVE. But this makes no sense and TY to mods here for quickly clarifying. Unless Disney gives you another theme parks worth of money for the rights, keep this forever.

Plus Universal gets a kick out of trolling Disney by not letting them have access to one of their biggest properties at WDW.

Another reason this rumor makes no sense right now is the next major thing on the to-do list for IOA once USF gets addressed would be Lost Continent whether it be Zelda or something else considering the land appears to be stuck in development hell at the moment.

Spider-man remains one of the top rides at the resort. The upgrade they did years ago cemented it well moving forward and one of the best attention-grabbers at the end of the Port of Entry is the Hulk every time it roars by. I can't imagine losing such an iconic part of IOA.

I'd be more likely to believe TL was coming up soon on the chopping block way before MSHI would ever be considered.

I seriously doubt Universal will ever give up the Marvel IP in our lifetime. And I hope they never do.

I think the bottom floor would be a buyout that would cover the costs of demolition, replacement, and the loss of profits - something so huge I don't think Disney would ever say yes.

Seeing this thread getting bumped got my hopes up for something legit. Oh well. Universal has much better places to spend money than change over a great section of IOA.

It would be hilarious if they did something new with the X-Men before they got into the MCU, but I'm not holding my breath.

The most I forsee for Marvel Super Hero Island's future is some aesthetic updates like the Hulk and Spider-Man got in the mid 2010s. Maybe they could give Dr. Doom a more interesting drop profile or something.

I know the discussion has been had - but is there a chance that Disney actually doesn't mind the existence of MSHI? They don't have to deal with upkeep/builds, and they still get merch sales.

Iger has already said so by saying there's no interest in getting the rights back. It's free money and advertising and it helps one of the rides is considered one of the best in the world. I imagine the same for the Simpsons.

I thought that was the case - which begs the question, would Disney ever allow them to actually make some meaningful changes to the land?

They reimagined and rebuilt the Hulk.

Read the article as it peaked my curiosity, nothing more than the usual "Disney bought Marvel in 2008" and that Universal doesn't like the idea of paying Marvel for licensing. Entirely clickbait.

Yes and they updated Spidey - I was more referring to a possible new attraction.

Is there a link to his comments about this? I've always been curious about his thoughts on Marvel being at Universal.

There's just no business incentive to give away the licensing rights away. I can understand, to a degree, if Universal was tight in space and they wanted to shove/focus on their in-house IP, but they have lots of areas that desperately need help in the parks before they tackle MSHI.

Tbh, MSHI is really great as is. I think the only updating it really needs atm is to rehal the dining.
The shops, Rides, photo ops, and meets are fine.

You could also update the costumes… but I think we’ll never see it…

They already have once, in a post-Disney-owned world. No reason why they can't again.
