The lack of screens, VR and apparently not having any "shooter" elements perplexes me about Mario Kart. Surely there has to be some interactivity of some kind... it's based on a video game, for god's sake!

I would think MK would be an attraction who's purpose is to put you in the middle of a Mario Kart race? That's the only possible selling point. It would be quite boring if they didn't include the requisite thrill behind the heart of the game, which is the competitive nature. This ride, no matter what, for clearly what people desire, can't just be a passive experience. Even if there's randomized elements and points where you pick up speed or entertain illusions of drifting, even if there's full three-dimensional sets and animatronics... everybody will shrug if there's zero illusion of control.

I was imagining the tech used in Legoland's new Ninjago ride which utilize hand gestures. You pass an item block, a screen in front of you shows what you have and you wave/throw towards the vehicle or "set piece" that you want to strike. No scoring is tallied, but of course, the point is getting your vehicle to 1st place.

I know RSR is a racing car attraction that succeeds without giving the rider anything to do, but the attraction accomplishes the feeling of participating in a race around the Ornament Valley. Here you're building from what will be when it opens a 30-year-old franchise that was a racing game with the monkey wrench of using whimsical items to prevent your opponents from gaining leads. With that being a cruical part of the appeal of Mario Kart... well I'm just puzzled here if that isn't a part of the attraction.

You have to think to yourselves about the actual game. They are not rewriting that history. Just think of popping through your computer screen and getting your own kart and racing with both characters and other guests while avoiding classic obstacles.
And all without any screens. There may be a wild twist to all this so rest happy and feel satisfied.
(boy, have I homogenized the hell out of this description).

That is all I am saying for a very long time.

Thinking about what the twist could be really fires the imagination. What could be fun is if they integrated classic Universal IPs into the Mario Kart ride. I don't think that would be out of the realm of possibility, with they way Nintendo has introduced third-party characters into games like Super Smash Bros. Imagine driving a DeLorean-themed kart and chucking a giant shark as a weapon at another kart being driven by Yoshi, or something.

Now when you say karts, do you mean actual karts we drive/control? because that seems like it would be a nightmare when it comes to effects, timing, etc...

Hmm.. So like a Mario-themed Radiator Springs Racers. I would be thrilled with that, especially if they work in some of the classic environments like the Circuit, Koopa Beach, Ghost Valley, and finally Bowser Castle.

Personally thinking,

could it be possible that MK will have a tracked layout that's multiple ride paths that you can choose? As I can see that as the way of driving around.

If its full on driving..what. the. hell!?

So it may be that what everyone was hoping Fast & Furious would be (Radiator Springs Racer/Test Track type of racing sensation or movement)), Mario's Karts may well fulfill that hope.

Too bad BTTF is gone... I could really use a trip to 2019 right now.

You know what would be sad? Travel to 2019 and Avatar, Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land aren't completed. And finding out they're all over budget.

A land based around Nintendo with as little screens as possible is GREAT for marketing. People can stay home if they want to see Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach & Co on a screen. If they want to see them in reality though, there's only one place they'll be able to do that on a scale like this.

Please don't get carried away with this TT/RSR thing. You're overshooting the runway.

Now we're getting you to narrow it down a bit. ;) Getting back to the point though, I didn't envision a TT/RC size attraction. But I was alluding to the concept of movement to recreate racing rather than the simulation screens of F&F. Is that on base?

Yea. Lots of other stuff to fit in this area. TT/RSR isn't a possibility
