So from what Ive heard the sidewalks on the Avatar site now are about 10ft below grade (height is just a guess from who I heard from but said they were really deep compared to rest of the land) and are full or rebar and other material and he did said it was all the sidewalks in the land so that made me think first its odd they are grading a sidewalk so low so I would imagine it is in preparation for the glo-walks and maybe they just will be all through out the entire land. I saw some discussion on the sidewalks and where they would be so thought this might help possibly

that's what the concept art looked like so im sure you re right...although it seems a little early in the process to be talking sidewalks....we need a new dose of aerials...and i d like to see the back of the park where they are doing the mock rock work as well

I am sure the glow tech doesn't require such depth...

The first question I would have is, what is "grade" in Florida... every decent construction site in Florida is way above true grade.

I find it hard to believe they are laying walkways so early as those are usually the very last thing installed.

Is your friend in the construction business?

my only guess would be because these are not ordinary sidewalks

I am sure the glow tech doesn't require such depth... I wouldn't think so either but who knows

The first question I would have is, what is "grade" in Florida... every decent construction site in Florida is way above true grade. To me finished grade could be any height so not sure if the heights now are what the end results will be

I find it hard to believe they are laying walkways so early as those are usually the very last thing installed. He might be confused then on what it is they are building

Is your friend in the construction business? Sort of

Well then, something is going on. The question is what. If they are that deep then do they have gentle grades on either side? If not, then what is holding up the sand? At first, you had me imagining WW 1 trenches... LOL!

The Orlando Business Journal said that Disney has filed notices of commencement to start work on the queue areas of the Avatar expansion.

It's not that big. It's about the size of transformers building. There are 4 screens. It seems the rows of seats will be on a platform that cantilevers over the edge with several floors of viewing. Screens are comparable in size to Soarin'! If you take a bus to Animal Kingdom from anywhere on property you can look over to the left and get a clear view of construction as well as the steel "vines" being erected for the "floating" mountains which will be in almost the exact spot as the old Lion King theatre.

Screens. Not screens...

So are the 4 screens for 4 theatres or will they be 4 different show scenes?

That thing is huge my god. Disney do us all favors and not let the ride film degrade like soarin and EO. These projections need to be spot on gorgeous or it'll suck forever

It will be digital projection Cole. That doesn't degrade like tangible film. Sure, we might lose a pixel here or there or the projection data becomes corrupt but that will be ultra rare. Digital, for the most part, either is or it isn't.
