Well there are definitely ways to pull off the floating mountains. Have one big mountain then connect smaller ones with steel rods hidden by vines. Or you could do what they're doing in this model by making a bridge like structure but make it look like pandora. It's doable

If it was doable, they'd do it.

I think the photo of the model is pretty impressive. Not as impressed with some of the EFX they are working on for the bioluminescent stuff. Some of it is pretty cheesy. I do think the walkway treatment will be cool.

^ Yeah, I worry that all the fake glow plants will become dusty and it will all look like the ET ride.

Too many vines.

Still looking forward to the boat ride though.

Me thinks what they want to do in the model won't even happen. Can't see the engineering work factoring out here.

I guess I disagree with all of you. lol The luminescent stuff looks really nice and I guess the model looks Pandora-like enough to me. But I wasn't a huge fan of the movie so I couldn't really tell you.

I think the model looks pretty amazing. I think the floor treatment will be very cool (can't wait to see the tracks an ECV leaves). But I think some of the bioluminescent stuff looks pretty cheesy.

All I see from the artwork was some beautiful "floating mountains" scupture and a bunch of trees and greens. What does a gift shop look like on pandora? What souvenirs would someone want to buy? What kind of food would they serve? Where would it be served? I'm sure the glow in the dark stuff will be awesome and it looks like they're gonna hide the show building with a bunch of grass and plants. But I still can't figure out how did we get to this place? Did we really just walk down a path and cross a bridge into a far off planet? If I'm a kid do I even know what Avatar is or care about it? There's just so many questions that make this project a little odd. Even though I'm sure it will be beautiful! I'm not sure how you incorporate everything you need to have in a Theme Park land into the story.

my guess is that they have some type of military/human head quarters in the far NW corner of the lot for food and merchandising so it can be somewhat separate from the floating mtns and rides area...just a guess though

"Where do you want to go for vacation this year?" Mom asks. Sally looks up and says "I want to go to that place where People invade a land and deplete it of its natural resources as they destroy everything that's sacred to the locals!" Dad looks over quizzically "America?", he asks. Mom laughs, "No silly, Disney World!" Sally chimes in "I really can't wait to see the Military headquarters of the future and eat at the mess hall!"

I don't think this is any more unrealistic than wizards, dinosaurs, superheroes, or whatever you consider Dr. Seuss. It all takes a willingness to ignore reality on some level. I'm sure they will come up with a reasonable way to handle food and merch and wouldn't be surprised if they facilitated that with the next movie.

I'm dead man I'm crying, as dumb as a futuristic mess hall would be, it would be kinda fun. Eating a sloppy joe in pandora is just so wrong but feels so right

Maybe the smurfs on Pandora open a theme park to welcome human visitors and added a casino and do some traditional dances. I'm sure they will have human food options and drinks as an option and 2 run of the mill coasters and a dumbo clone. Disney could use that perfectly and it will fit that other amazingingly themed dinoland area.

So from what Ive heard the sidewalks on the Avatar site now are about 10ft below grade (height is just a guess from who I heard from but said they were really deep compared to rest of the land) and are full or rebar and other material and he did said it was all the sidewalks in the land so that made me think first its odd they are grading a sidewalk so low so I would imagine it is in preparation for the glo-walks and maybe they just will be all through out the entire land. I saw some discussion on the sidewalks and where they would be so thought this might help possibly
