Maybe among those in the theme park community that love Nintendo. But Volcano Bay is gonna make a much bigger splash than Nintendoland will with just about everyone else. It's a new freakin' park. That doesn't happen all the time in Orlando.

I know Nintendo will make a big impact, but Volcano bay is resort changing. Nintendo not so much.

The gaming community, theme parkgoers, and those with nostalgia for the brand make up a much larger segment than those interested in water parks. Disney's water parks are the most visited in the country and they just earn about 2 million visitors per year. Volcano Bay will be a game changer, but for water parks and the Universal resort itself. Nintendo will have more people talking about and visiting the resort overall.

Sigh... WDI is a joke. How frugel Disney is and they haven't cleaned house in Imagineering is mind-blowing.

The main issue is that Disney only works with top contractors paying top dollar for attractions. Attractions that could have been built at a reduced rate get wildly overblown because of the contractors they hire and the fact that they never really go up for bidding. If this policy changed, it could change everything about Disneyparks.

Someone mentioned the Miceage article from a few years ago and I found it for anyone who wants more information to check out: Accountineering, Attractions and Entertainment at the Disneyland Resort

From what Martin is saying:

Phase 1 is Toy Story
Phase 2 is Star Wars
Phase 3 is unannounced stuff, potentially Carsland
Phase 4 hasn't been greenlit yet and is far in the future.

Martin has been hinting a lot lately that Phase 3 is still very much up in the air and that if they are gonna go all out, higher ups want something unique, so Carsland is looking less likely.

Personally i'm hoping for Monstropolis.

Yes, that's the article I referred to in my earlier post. My memory wasn't bad for an article from a couple of years ago. $1,ooo.oo for sign that a ten dollar sign would have sufficed. Just like the Pentagon.

Would make sense seeing as there's a sequel in the works. Wasn't there an Incredibles-themed coaster using KUKA technology planned years ago for Tomorrowland (to take the place of CoP)?

There was an Incredibles ride with Kuka arms planned. I'm not sure where it was to go, but it sounded amazing.

Wasn't it supposed to be at DCA where Cars is?

I remember hearing DCA as well, but where within DCA, I have no idea.

If I recall correctly, it was supposed to be like HP:FJ in that it was going to be a kuka arm on a track (it might even have been a roller coaster track). I believe that the "wow" moment was going to be seeing a group of people loaded into the spheres and a kuka arm would reach down and grab them for the ride. Anyone have any memory of that?

I'm hearing that the first 15 seconds of your Banshee flight will be breathtaking.

As long as you haven't ridden any of the popular Universal "Screeenz!" rides. (IE: the most overused simulator trick).

We've always known the budget was going to be $500M from just about day 1 though. Lee and Martin over at Magic were all over that.

Wait!! I do know they raised the amount by $250,000 because it was all over the news and "The Hub". I remember when they sent the spies during the preview of DA, and about a week after that they quickly raised the budget.... I guess to say they can or something.

They don't "spy", they where there on invitation from Universal Creative and noticed that their original design was cheap in relation to Potter so they upped it in the hope more rockwork would help Avatar to be a hit with their guests.

Yeah, and even if they weren't invited... they aren't spies. Just because they are a competing park doesn't really mean anything. As long as they had paid money to enter (had they not been invited) then they'd just be what i'd consider "curious guests".

So much "blah, blah, blah" so little action. I have changed my mind about Pandora. I think now it's a waste of money, they should've just build a themed pavillion hosting both rides and that's it. After all, how in the world can you go over budget after already adding a budget over the original budget, and for what? Soarin'? It's a small world? Fiber Optics and Black Lights? What's the point of having this tread anyway? They will do and spend whatever they want to, build and open whatever and whenever they want to. The only hope at the moment is SWL or better known in my world as Planet Tatooendor, because they could not even spend 5 minutes to have a name for the land set. Unlike the movie were we already know there's a new planet called Jakku.
