I don't think any of them will suck. I think fallen will be a little too similar tech wise to DM and since I don't watch his show the IP does not appeal to me. But I think in the end it will be an OK ride. I think FF could have used a different tech for that IP. Whether you watch the movie or not fast cars is always a popular IP so I think this one will do the best of the two.

I love slow boat rides to be honest with you. My while family does. So I am most excited about Pandora's slow boat ride. Soaring 2.0 I am reserving judgement until after I ride it. Some of what I heard years ago about this intrigued me, but not sure how much of that concept has changed. I feel it could be way better than soarin, but don't know. I love soarin as do many many people. So this could be a really popular ride for years.

The IP won't matter. IP never matters if a ride is good enough.

Also, I don't understand how people are assuming that Fallon will be too similar to DM. Since when does DM lift you off the ground and simulate flying?

I think Pandora will do an overall better job for it's park, but if you are talking resort wide attendance increases... well no doubt Universal will have the bigger increase. They have a smaller amount of guests currently attending per year, so even if they increase by the same number that WDW does, the % of increase is ultimately higher.

That may be true, but I feel DAK has more to gain (even if it might be at the expense of DHS' attendance). I just feel Rivers of Light and Pandora will be a bigger 1-2 punch for guests visiting Orlando than F&F and Fallon. We'll get an idea of what Supercharged did for USH's numbers soon, even though I would chalk some of that up to its deceptive advertising.

I agree IP doesn't have to matter. It is why I think Avatar will be much better than people on here think. Sure it is a IP put of people's minds right now, but it will make a great land. I think it will be visually amazing. Somewhere along the lines of HP. Which is why I don't think F&F and Fallon will win this battle. I don't really count water parks. They are their own beasts and attract only a subset of people.

You are right in that it simulates flying. That is different from DM. I just don't think it will be a fantastic ride every time ride. Which DM is not a ride every time ride either. We will see when it opens. I could love it as much as I love soarin. Again, when I talked about IP, I was saying I personally don't like fallon, so for me I think it will be an OK ride.

I even stated even if you don't like F&F everyone likes fast cars. I just think a different tech for this IP could have made it a really good ride vs. The middle of the road ride many people are predicting. Again, we will see when it opens.

I do think many on here underestimate what AK is doing right now. I think attendance is going to shoot up in 2016 and 2017 as that park opens more. Will it hurt DHS, yes. But only for less than a year when TSL opens. People are forgetting that will open less than a year after AK is fixed.

More than anything I think this is the most true thing that can likely be said. Many still can't seem to get the "It's Avatar" from clouding their view and it's keeping many from having an open mind.

Hey atleast there's some rivalry to be had in terms of new offerings now. We as theme park fans all benefit. Hopefully it escalates....Disney will have to react in a big way you feel to a third gate, as that's the kind of thing that can sway where people stay onsite.

Well the way it has gone so far they are just raising their prices so you have to stay more days to make it a good value. I expect more of the same. I don't think disney would do much outside of what is scheduled now.

That's the way it's going at both resorts. UOR keeps spending down and adds more, WDW adds less, spends more due to bloated WDI. In the end it doesn't matter for WDW because they are top dog.

Both WDW and UNI feed off each other. As long as one resort has something new to offer in Orlando, price increases will be warranted each and every year. Price increases are simply inevitable, but that's also why it's not as much of a "war" as much as a fight for the dollars, which mainly comes down to on-site stays.

Ugh... nobody is "Taking" a year. Someone may release better attractions one year than the other year, but as I said, when it actually comes down to what the companies care about, they feed off of each other. They help each other make boatloads simply by existing.

Oh... so that was all the Magical Express was about. Disney wants to share with Universal. I am so stupid that I never understood it that way. :blank:

Apparently you missed the post where I said the main battle is for hotel stays. That was an incredibly dense reply.

My base point was that WDW is fierce and the entire resort is included in that. It wasn't until recently that Universal had the power to be fierce back, on all fronts.

Teebin is right on this one. Walt Disney World's objective is to get people onto their property and not let them leave until it's time for their flight back home. Disney Springs is just another fine example of exactly that. Why do you think the Premium Outlets are within the top 10 most visited malls in the world? Disney tries to cannibalize - and rightfully so. They're definitely not buddy buddy with the other Central Florida theme parks lol.

I believe that with the GP, F&F will be a bigger draw than Avatar.

And I find it interesting how we have all already decided that Soarin' 2.0, the slow boat ride, F&F, and Fallon will all suck.

Oh, I KNOW Fallon will suck.

I never have tried to insinuate that Disney is buddy-buddy with anyone.

I think a lot of you miss the point. Avatarland will pull a lot of attendance but mostly at the cost of other Disney Parks. Particularly Hollywood Studios. But Universal with several new attractions and Volcano Bay could pull an extra day away from Disney for a lot of visitors and increase their market share again.

It doesn't have to be from other parks though. The amount of people that travel to Orlando go up by the millions every year. Disney/Universal need to hope to secure the "new/once in a lifetime" guests.

I'd be inclined to say "New/Once in a Lifetime" guests will follow the same path.

I don't think Volcano Bay pulls from Disney. Disney has two decent water parks. I think people who vacation at Uni will add a day to their stay and that is where uni increases. Also, some people will come to Orlando just for avatar which helps disney. Some people may add a day if they haven't gone to Animal kingdom in a couple years. And then others may change a day to AK not going to another park. It will be a mix. But they will increase overall attendance just like uni will. The real question is those people who go to both places and split their vacation stays. How many days will they stay at Disney and how many at uni. If they are a huge water park fan they may add to uni and remove from disney. But if they are not they may add to Disney and remove from uni to go to AK. I don't think fallon or F&F will factor much into those people. Because those people
Spend enough days at those parks to ride those two rides.
