I think this is going to be like Kong in the sense it will have large RVs, move very slowly, and have multiple stationary scenes.

Over at Magic they were saying it looks about 550' or so long. Compared it to Maelstrom & Fiesta which were about 50% longer in length.

Wait, Fiesta and Maelstrom were LONGER?

The poster that estimated a measurement from the plans gave that 550' apx. number and I believe it was Steve the moderator or someone else that gave the length of Maelstrom & Fiesta. They were around 750 to 850 ' ft. if my memory serves me correct. There's a lengthy discussion on the Avatar specifics thread. they get into water displacement & all kind of stuff relating to POC,, Lands and such also.

Since Na'vi River Journey is strongly rumored to use the Shanghai Pirates omniboat system, it's very possible for it to be shorter but longer, as they can control how fast and what movements the boat makes.

If not and it really is shorter than those w/o that (which, let's be honest, there's no solid info stating it's shorter), then it will be a complete failure.

I predict parts where the boats aren't moving forward at all and are turned towards show scenes such as the rumored amazing Na'vi AAs and scary beasties.

The new ride system doesn't use flowing water to move the boats. So they can move them and spin them at will.

There is not a lot to talk about this, because this board doesn't have the same type of "sources" for Disney projects. Users like Teebin help fuel and stoke the fire over in the Kong thread. The lack of revealing construction updates from users and/or Disney themselves.

Yep, this is a tough one. The hidden construction makes it hard. Where like Kong has good views from JP. Also. while nothing is going on outside of Kong, we are getting teaser videos because Kong is opening much sooner than this one. So what can we talk about? We have had some debates about the boats, but we know the tech, we know the basic stuff now. So it is just construction pics, which no one can get good ones to spark conversation.

I mean look at F&F we very rarely talk about that one other than people not liking it or how are they going to remove that last piece of building.

Also we generally know a lot about the project already. The drawings for the attractions leaked years ago.

Or maybe it's because no one cares about AVATAR as hard as they wanna try.

Yeah, no one really cares about this.

It'll probably be a great addition but Avatar is pretty irrelevant in pop culture today.

If anyone knows where you can see regular photo updates of this without weeding through pages of nonsense I'm actually interested in seeing it.

I think the land and rides are going to be good. But I'm going to wait and see how well Disney handles this operationally before I use it as a reason to go back to WDW for the first time in 4 years.

Orlando Parks News .com has been having photo updates about once every two weeks. All they do is photos, so there's no forum to wade through. The only negative is that progress is so slow, you won' notice much unless a few months have passed.
