The BGW simulator had so much movement on the first two rides before Europe In the Air, that it was somewhat prone to motion sickness.

Of course, motion sickness on older versions of many of these kinds of simulators have been attributed to projector frame rate. BTTF made me dizzy, Simpsons did not.

1. I read this board everyday and I was unaware of the ride system until the last page. I was still under the impression it was a soarin clone.
2. I got dizzy on Simpsons, but did not on BTTF.
3. Now that FAllon is more like Shrek, I've lost interest completely (not that I was highly interested before).

I was under the same impression. I will still go on this ride but with this system the re-ride factor will be much lower for me.

I believe it will be more like Soarin' than Shrek. The one shown way back shows the entire theater going vertical

^ That was what I was hoping for way back when. It is not going to be that after all. It will be a big flat floor with 70 or so seats on it that tips and and bobs much like the spiderman ride vehicles. Could someone post a pic or video of that flying over Europe thingy at Williamsburg.

Thanks. I had missed the update (probably in the 30 pages since that original post). I also enjoyed your comment, "flying over Europe thingy". Thingy is one of the best descriptive terms in the English language. Although, I'm not sure that it is in Webster's yet. I was also hoping for the flying theater from Dynamic or Oceaneering. However, I will still ride and will probably enjoy it.

I still can't get excited for this or Fast and Furious. Looks like back to back flops for Universal Studios....unless they do something to surprise us.

I look at them as improvements for what they replaced, crowd eaters and a warmup for Nintendo.

Remember that I told you all months ago that a Today Show studio exterior would be part of the exterior look. That pale grey steel sure looks like the set up for it. In fact, it will be the NBC store. All fun.

Yes. But remember, it only looked like that to me months ago when I saw things you would all enjoy seeing. It was my judgement only but I think it was a pretty good one. :)

LOL, and that is the logo it is supposed to have sans "NEWS"! Never noticed that!

Twister....maybe. Though if this turns out to be another simulator then it's a loss. A practical effects show like Twister is better than that to me.

And as for Fast N Furious...I'm waiting to see what they do with the ride. Disaster/Earthquake was a classic.

I like disaster but I didn't really like the audience interaction part after my first time riding it

As I've said before, I was on the BGW simulator a good number of times when it was the two shows before the terrible Europe in the Air. The previous two shows were fairly good. If Fallon uses a simulator similar to this one, it could potentially have "way" more movement than Despicable Me or Shrek or Star Tours. I've been on those three and there's no comparison. Those three are not in the same movement category. They are much much milder. The BGW simulator had so much movement on the first two rides before Europe In the Air, that it was somewhat prone to motion sickness.(Example I used before; In one scene, you were shrunk to fairy size and put in a pouch on a galloping Unicorn. There was so much bumping movement you would have sworn you were really in that pouch on the Unicorn, and you were dizzy & ready to throw up by the time the scene ended. And the rest of the ride was similar) If Fallon has a good story, and they utilize this platform to it's potential, it could be a fairly fun thrilling attraction. But, of course, I'm going on the assumption that Fallon will have the same capabilities of the BGW simulator.

Have they changed out the simulator tech since it opened as the Corkscrew Hill days? The simulator was originally constructed by a now defunct company so I wonder if Dynamic is copying that design or if it'll be somewhat different. I guess that's more of a @Teebin question.

I believe its still the same simulator. They just did a new film with Europe and it opened up pretty quick, so I doubt anything major changed. They probably just toned down the movement for that type of film. Don't know for sure though, just guessing and using logic due to the fast turn around time frame.

I don't have a clue who is building the ride system. I will say that it appeared custom and not anything I had previously seen. Perhaps Oceaneering engineered it?

With the outer walls going up now we should start to see the facade being built. Looking forward to that.

I was excited for this but after seeing the ride system in action, I've lost most of my excitement for this.

It's just too much of the same old thing.
