Well, it's supposed to be a race rather than a flight, so that makes sense to me..

They shot footage of him racing in a go cart, so I would say yes.

Wait a minute. We are going to be simulating driving through New York City? I didn't know this is going to be a terror ride.:yikes:

So true. When in NYC on business, I let my brother drive. He drives like the cabbies. Of course, if you want to get anywhere, you need to drive like a cabbie.

I swear the cabbies in New York are capable of defying the laws of physics.

It makes sense for the concept but it doesn't make sense to have two similar rides virtually next door to each other.

But it is a Soarin' type attraction. Different but similar ride system.

How so? A Soarin' ride system has two elements that set it apart from a standard simulator. First, the seating is elevated several feet off the ground after boarding to give a sensation of flight and two, riders feet are dangling above the loading area. Subtract those two elements and you don't have a similar ride system to Soarin' at all. While people weren't all that thrilled about having a Soarin' clone at Universal, at least that's a ride system not currently present in the parks. Now it's turning into yet another "4-D movie" with tilting seats. Enough already! I thought for sure we'd be seeing a steady elimination of ALL 4-D theatre attractions from theme parks by now with the prevelance of both 3-D movies and 4DX presentations making their way to cinemas. I saw Batman V Superman at Regal Union Square in Manhattan and the seat movement, variety of in-house effects (including strobe, smoke, etc) and even lumbar tickler was objectively a better quality experience than anything in Shrek 4D and people can experience it at their local movie theatre. There is no reason executives should be going in this direction on NEW attractions when 5 years from now, folks in Kansas will be able to see a movie with all the shimmying, shaking, and water spraying their hearts could desire.

I'm all sorts of confused right now. It's like Soarin', but more like Minions?

So the theater tilts forward toward the screen, turning the theater into a "Soarin'-ish" experience? Or just a basic "moving theater"?

EDIT TO ADD: Are we looking at something more like this?

What you posted is what a lot of us THOUGHT we were getting but according to recent reports it looks like we're actually getting a variation on the Busch Gardens "Europe in the Air" ride system which essentially consists of standard auditorium seating attached to a gimbal. In other words, it's like Minion Mayhem but instead of several individual vehicles it's one giant platform. At least, that is what folks here have intimated it will end up being like.

Ah. So it's not Soarin' after all. That would make sense considering the walkway above would be elevated to make room for the motion base.

Then I'm even more disappointed in this ride now. An indoor wild mouse would have fit in there and have been a better choice than this. I mean, it would be pretty basic but a whole lot better than this. Pretty sad.

Truth. When we dispatched the train it seemed like there was a 50% chance it would make it back. The first thing I learned in training was evacuation!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't @Teebin say though that the ride system could go at an inclined position in a way (I believe he said 30 or 40 degrees, but I could be wrong)?

I'm pretty sure the simulator ride systems incline 30 to 40 degrees from their rest position during 'show' and then sit back down level during load...But I'm no engineer..I'm barely and eer

Then I believe more, as I thought a long time ago that @Teebin said that it can tilt the angle of the chairs at a good angle, but as I said; I can be wrong.
