You can just as easily get washed ou by one of our daily thunderstorms. It's just apart of planning. Much lie the constant tourist who come to Orlando in May-October and as "Is it always this hot?" I Reply "Yes Drink Water and eat liite".. If you plan to the weather accordingly, you'll always be a step ahead in Orlando.

I planned so good last year. I bought 12 rain ponchos. Our first day, I left them in our room. We came back dripping water, and feeling kinda stupid seeing the package of unopened rain ponchos on the bed.

We still have the 2 rain ponchos we bought 6 years ago. We put them in our pockets when the weather looks shaky. Never used them yet. :)

Nice pictures. That incline at the entrance might well be the highest hill in Florida. I always meant to sit on those RP lounge chairs in the evening, but never did. After the Grand Floridian alligator attack, no way. :)

Orange is often perceived as a color that conveys inexpensiveness. Don't know if that was their intended purpose but it could be.

It's a color that is highly used in the Caribbean. Personally I don't like it with this hotel, but I get it considering the theme.

I have to agree, I think the blue alone would've been sufficient itself (especially due to the name). However my girlfriend loves the color scheme and believes it screams Caribbean. I guess that means I now have to love the color scheme as well, is that how it goes? Oh well..

Yeah I saw these pics and wondered if Uni will also change how their beach is set up.

Because Uni is surrounded by so many busy roads and the bodies of water are independtly sourced, i'm pretty sure Uni doesn't have any Gators (and if they do, they're gone immediately). It's just incredibly hard for a Gator to find that water way due to the high traffic of the surrounding roads - they don't want to deal with that.

^ There was a large soft shelled turtle that lived in the IOA lagoon for years. How that got there is beyond me. I had a pond dug on my property down there and within a year, there were fish swimming in it. Where did they come from? I didn't put them there. Florida nature surprised me over and over and over again.

(I was later told that often, cranes and other birds get fish eggs stuck to their legs in one water source and then land in another where the eggs wash off)

I don't know. I lived between 417 & Econ and we had gators around there all the time. I get Disney is more a swamp setting than Universal, but I imagine they have had a gator in their waterways at one point or another. During mating season those things can move. I worked for Darden and in mating season people would find them in the parking lots when they went to get to their cars.

I do agree when they are saw they are probably caught and moved. But my understanding is that Disney also moves/kills them.

I'm not saying there's NEVER been Gators at Uni, it's just MUCH more rare than at Disney, where, if you're actually paying attention, you'll see them almost every day near the waters, sun bathing on the golf courses, on the side of the road, etc.

And yes, since there's so many Gators in the state, the FWC has stated that Disney has no choice but to kill the gators. There's nowhere they can be moved.

Well, that statement is debatable. Orange (and other bright colors) are often found in historically low-income areas, like the Carribbean and countless other areas of the world. The thought is that, psychologically, the bright colors will improve your mood. It's an inexpensive change that can make a real improvement on your overall well-being.

The rest of us have come to associate the bright colors with the joy of tropical areas and vacation, but the actual rationale behind it is unfortunate.
