If Uni sticks to their 'nearly every other year' schedule for a new attraction in each individual park, and that's historically a pretty aggressive schedule., it'll take ten years (to 2032) to just get 5 replacement attractions. So, I would
doubt all of these wants will happen soon. Probably just a slow gradual process. Shrek and Fear Factor, according to Alicia's rumor info, appear to be the only imminent changes.....These wants are probably way more 'wishes' than reality.

I think that last sentence is the case 99% of the time when discussing these things, but luckily it’s fun regardless.

I have to agree, there's a lot and they are ALL bunched together

I feel like there was no master plan for USF back in the 2000's

Hey, Universal Studios Florida has ten non-screen driven indoor attractions... when Halloween Horror Nights is in operation...

That Ghostbusters "Dark Ride" I did in Soundstage 22 was solid...

Jokes aside, I think getting a non-screen driven dark ride might be curse number 2 of Universal Studios Florida, with number 1 being the Kids Zone replacement.

Edit:
Hopefully one day we will get a non-screen driven dark ride at this park. It would be sad if the MIB replacement is a screen-driven ride. I do not think Universal Studios Florida's screen problem would get that bad. Let's hope we at least hear rumors of a non-screendriven ride happening after Shrek and Fear Factor replacements open.

Perhaps not, but I don't think things truly got out of hand until the back-to-back double whammy of losing Twister and Disaster for two simulator replacements.

If that's not their first priority for the current resort immediately after EU opens, my already-frazzled patience will be pushed to the breaking point.

I'm still thinking the plan is to do something big in USF after the dust settles at EU. That's years away so the goal right now being to spruce up the park without getting in the way, limiting possibilities for the future. Hopefully they're learning from what they do right and what they do wrong.

If some backstage stuff in the park gets moved over to the EU site, then there really could be major plans for the park in the next decade or so, but that’s a big if. Right now Kidzone and MIB are the best expansion spots.

According to a couple insiders, Woodbury actually had a vision, or somewhat a plan, for USF, namely all screen attractions....but then there was the backlash to too many screens, and now
USF is out of balance.

I agree, there is a ton of potential

Ironically, USF is like three steps away from being one of the best in Orlando even though it's the second worst now

I feel this park is eventually just going to be what it is currently, with a new land in kidzone, a new ride in MIB, hopefully not screen based, and maybe another land or 2 if they expand. Makes me wish they just dig into the studio theme a bit more to make it stand out, especially once Epic opens.

After F&F, the implication was that they had.

Given what their short-term plans for USF seem to be, I'm not at all convinced they have.

And the imbalance is only going to get worse, apparently.

Drastic measures.

Reset the timeline, make Studio almost unrecognizable from its current look (except for Horror Make-Up Show. Keep that masterpiece forever).

I have to wonder if the "backlash" was all wishful online fan thinking.

Depends on what we mean by "backlash." If we're talking about a general perception (even among non-hardcore fans) that a lot of attractions at USF are "same-y," I think that's definitely real.

If we're talking about Universal actually getting enough heat from that to do anything about it, it certainly seems to have been wishful thinking, because no decisions being made for the park right now would indicate they value trying to rebalance the scales in any way.

It’s clear that from UOR removing 3D from Minions and cutting it from Supercharged last minute that that they believe our complaints were more focused on too many 3D rides, and not screenz in general.

Since F&F, UC’s track record has been pretty solid. Between VC, JWA and Off the Leash this has been a stellar year for them IMO.

But yes, replace MIB with a screen ride and I have virtually no reason to visit USF for 10 months a year. Odd as it may seem I would actually prefer they put any new screen rides in USF—it already has too many, so best to keep Islands and Epic balanced.

@shiekra38: what’s your #1 worst? Epcot?

Yes, 3D seems to be where they are cutting down.

Screens don't bother me really, as long as they're diverse in their presentation

JAWS and Kong used the same tech relatively, but had wildly different uses of said tech

Which I’m fine with and is our first step. 3-D isn’t really that impressive anymore.
