So i just got back from California and I spent a day at Universal Hollywood. A few notes I'd love to share ( I know we are Orlando, but I think the points are valid)
- Kong 360 got me so jacked up for this ride, the thought of cutting down the vehicle length is going to make it very interesting.
- The plan of hopefully being within practical effects and scenery before the screens is going to make it even better, kong 360 just dumps you into the scene.
- I'm nervous about how they will integrate the 3D, will they expect us to wear them the whole ride or right before the screens yell something stupid like "quick put on your adventure goggles"?
- I dislike how the new 3D glasses being used are really limiting your peripheral vision. The second time I rode Kong360 I didn't even wear the glasses and i preferred it SOOO much more.
- I forgot how pissed off Kong is, makes me excited for the AA.
- More thoughts on 3D, Universal Hollywood got so boring so fast because the separation in ride tech is awful. Jurassic Park and Mummy were the only rides that didn't have 3D or screens. It felt like i was on repeat. Makes me nervous for the furture of rides....My only hold out for this place is that is just so limited location wise because everything is so condensed.
- Aside from FJ, Minions and Krustys are two of the newer rides and i swear its the same ride. I came off both of them like, "i just rode this". This is my same feeling towards what Jimmy Fallon is going to be for
Orlando.
- The new Forbidden Journey was also 3D versus the Orlando version which is not, personally the addition of 3D was awful. It was hard to see anything and the 3D was completely unnecessary. Again, UC is forcing us to use extremely limiting glasses that ruin you from seeing so much, I had to take them off so I could actually enjoy seeing the whole dragon and whomping willow the second time.
Those are just a few thoughts, I know i sound like a huge 3D hater but its funny how many ppl I talked to that had the same reactions.
It was funny listening to how much ppl enjoyed the dated Jurassic park because it was the only ride where they didnt have limited vision or stupid fast motion, you could actually enjoy and appreciate the world you were being put into.
Just my two cents, Orlando or bust!
