Couple things I got from "Man who must not be named" over the weekend.
1. "Timing Issue" that I mentioned several days ago has been corrected
2. Vast majority of cast members have been on a full ride through
3. Every ride through up until Friday went flawlessly and seems to have a pretty solid operation reliability
4. Que "rehearsals" still going on, the jist is that they're still trying to figure out the level that they're looking to crank it up to while guests/kids are in line. The plan is for the evening version of the que to still be "creepier"
5. The "main attraction" has impressed everyone so far, it's bits and pieces leading up to the ape are what some "higher ups" have issues with. (This is fascinating to me because how on earth did they not realize what they were getting?)
6. There have been minor gripes concerning the trucks as far as getting the best view goes while on ride.

I really hope softs start very soon.

Sounds like UC's threat of opening on the target date really made them hustle! I wonder how much chewing gum and string they had to use.

Funny, I have already been told that duct tape or something like it was involved in making the ride vehicles function. ;)

Is the general consensus that the attraction will open during the media preview? I'm in Orlando from June 15 - July 2. Hoping that we'll get to experience it!

Don't want to alarm you guys, but UC hired some new consultants to help with the issues.

Why you gotta replace Bill Nye before he dies or retires?

Um, new Carl Sagan. We don't need a new Bill Nye yet. His has recently surfaced attempting to explain basic earth science to Republicans. They are, as of yet,.....unreceptive.

Media preview will probably have the attraction closed for softs usually the day before, day of, and day after. Until Universal officially announces an opening date and media previews it's all a guess.

So i just got back from California and I spent a day at Universal Hollywood. A few notes I'd love to share ( I know we are Orlando, but I think the points are valid)

- Kong 360 got me so jacked up for this ride, the thought of cutting down the vehicle length is going to make it very interesting.
- The plan of hopefully being within practical effects and scenery before the screens is going to make it even better, kong 360 just dumps you into the scene.
- I'm nervous about how they will integrate the 3D, will they expect us to wear them the whole ride or right before the screens yell something stupid like "quick put on your adventure goggles"?
- I dislike how the new 3D glasses being used are really limiting your peripheral vision. The second time I rode Kong360 I didn't even wear the glasses and i preferred it SOOO much more.
- I forgot how pissed off Kong is, makes me excited for the AA.

- More thoughts on 3D, Universal Hollywood got so boring so fast because the separation in ride tech is awful. Jurassic Park and Mummy were the only rides that didn't have 3D or screens. It felt like i was on repeat. Makes me nervous for the furture of rides....My only hold out for this place is that is just so limited location wise because everything is so condensed.
- Aside from FJ, Minions and Krustys are two of the newer rides and i swear its the same ride. I came off both of them like, "i just rode this". This is my same feeling towards what Jimmy Fallon is going to be for
Orlando.

- The new Forbidden Journey was also 3D versus the Orlando version which is not, personally the addition of 3D was awful. It was hard to see anything and the 3D was completely unnecessary. Again, UC is forcing us to use extremely limiting glasses that ruin you from seeing so much, I had to take them off so I could actually enjoy seeing the whole dragon and whomping willow the second time.

Those are just a few thoughts, I know i sound like a huge 3D hater but its funny how many ppl I talked to that had the same reactions.
It was funny listening to how much ppl enjoyed the dated Jurassic park because it was the only ride where they didnt have limited vision or stupid fast motion, you could actually enjoy and appreciate the world you were being put into.

Just my two cents, Orlando or bust!kong_CA.jpg

Trust me: you're not the only person and that certainly counts with visitors. Hopefully Pets will help smooth things out a bit more.

It is funny I was had DHS yesterday and I got glasses fatigue there. Now mind you we did ride star tours 3 times and toy story twice, but I don't know. My head was also killing me, not sure if it was from all the screens or the heat. So I guess you can get it at other parks too :)

It's true. I just didn't even want to go on half the rides again because i didn't want to have to focus and look through glasses so hard. It gets old real fast!

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but Legendary & WB are being sued by someone who had been working on Kong: Skull Island since 1992. Guy had meetings with Legendary and WB separately to develop a prequel that would later tie into a more Kong adventures. Legendary passed. WB signed on to do a television pilot. Months later Legendary announced the film. Then moved Kong out of Uni, over to WB, and WB cancelled it's contract with the writer. Legendary Pictures, instead of denying the claims, issued a "no comment" to the media.
