Kong changed my life.
As a child, My father took me to the Tampa theater downtown (favorite theater in the world) to see a screening of the 1932 Kong and I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so used to the muppets and Disney films, it was truly the first time I watched something up my alley. Monsters, adventure, spectacle it was all there. But what got me was the story, it brought emotion into all of it. What I remember most was the image of Kong falling off the Empire State Building and me being just beyond shocked about it. Kong was my obsession for literal years, when I got it for Christmas on a VHS that year it was the only thing I'd watch. I later became to be curious about the effects so did stop motion with my toys, I wrote a sequel to it, this movie kept inspiring me to do new things. To this day, I recently got accepted into Ringling college of art and design for film and I don't think if I didn't have that screening I would be going. To see an attraction of this level based off something I love so much is truly a dream come true to me. Monday can't come soon enough!!!

Always one of my favorite movies from my youth. But my favorite part of the movie was always the early scenes in the lost land. I'm really happy UC settled on the attraction taking place in that environment instead of NYC.

Question for those who got to ride were there and scared or crying children in the queue

Oh, absolutely. Both times I went through I encountered some upset children. However, there were other kids around that seemed completely unphased.

I think the ride itself doesn't look that intense for kids. At least, not any more than something like Indiana Jones Adventure or Dinosaur is. My seven-year-old brother who loves dinosaurs will probably want to ride this since some are in it, and he could easily handle the other two rides so I think he could handle this one. And watching the videos of the queue... it looks creepy, and it definately will get some kids pretty bad, but I think a lot of kids will be mildly scared at worst in the queue but the fun of the ride will make them forget about it.

Wrt kids, YMMV. My mom always talked about how my 2-year-old brother had to be dragged onto It's a Small World (at the World's Fair), but I don't consider that a scary attraction. On the flip side, plenty of first graders seem to take Stitch's Great Escape in stride--but a hell of a lot more kids freak out there than, say, Pooh's Hunny Hunt.

I guess we're past spoilers, so the queue features an incredibly life-like witch doctor who dims the lights, a ton of skulls, some decaying bodies, a worm-thing that tries to attack you, and at least one scare-actor. A decent percentage of children are going to have the snot scared out of them by this--particularly because there is no ride vehicle to create an illusion of safety. And a I fear a lot of commando parents ("you know how much we paid for these tickets?!?") are going to ignore friendly warnings and force their kids on anyway.

How many skulls did they say were in the queue? 893?? Seems like many more to me, they are stacked up everywhere. Someone was doing population control on this island.

And they'll be adding to them in the future. Rumor has it those are the skulls of the dissident reviewers of the amateur bootleg Kong POV on You Tube. Kong's native worshipers will have their way. Beware the wrath of Kong.

Wasn't me, but I remember the comment. I saw some visibly frightened younger children yesterday, but no freak outs. Most kids in the 6 year old range absolutely LOVE this attraction.

Mission accomplished for them then

Like I said, when I was little this would have freaked me out...but I would have come back again and again

Indeed there are, but just not yet. Not while Universal is struggling to get the thing running smoothly.

Yeah, what happened with that?

That was one of the way back HTF ideas I think. After the designs were modified, I would assume the idea was tossed out, as I never heard a thing about it since I have been connected.
