Yeah, same with me. I just don't get involved with these little nuances. I probably rode Mummy at least a dozen times before I slowed up to read the story line in the beginning of the queue. It didn't detract from the fun because I really didn't know what was going on. :)

Yeah, I don't believe it is the story as much as cohesiveness that TT spoke of. If the girl had entered in the 360 scene and was saved by Kong at the last minute from the scorpion and a raptor and then we saw the back of her head looking up at Kong in the final scene... it would have tied it all together. I am not sure this would have made the ride seem like a true 6 minutes however. The 360 scene has to be epic and go by faster than anyone would like. I think everyone wants to sit there and watch a short movie with the motion base.

Heck, they say she's OK in the end scene with Kong. Maybe she should be standing there next to Kong throwing kisses at everyone in the vehicle. But then that would take away from the Kong effect. The ride is about Kong, not Kate. As long as Kong is there at the end, I'll be satisfied. Or maybe they should change the marque to "Reign of Kate" or "Kate & Kong, the Odd Couple". ;) Sorry, TT, but I think the criticism is overblown. Everything at the park, short of SpiderMan, to hear some people's concerns, have cohesive story issues.....I agree with Teebs, if long rides seem short, it's because the entertainment factor is working.......

Yes. It seems short to me because someone else's definition agrees with your stance.

Is it bad that I didn't realize for two years that we ride in a transformer?
My mean family had days of giggles at my expense for that one.

A solid story won't make a bad ride good, though I think it can definitely make a good ride better. I think where Kong gets some people is that it's very easy to think of some different ways to tie things together a bit better, without even adding new scenes - most of the problems could likely be solved by making a few changes to the existing animation and sprinkling in a few lines of dialogue. Like, have the second truck pull up near the end of the bug pit scene to pick up Kate (instead of her getting grabbed and pulled offscreen). The ride then plays out as normal until the second truck pulls up in the 360 scene, where Kate and the driver give a few lines of commentary over the fight just so we know they're in the scene. Following that, make it clear that the second truck survives the encounter, and end the scene with some dialogue from Kate or the other driver telling us to go on ahead and that they'll catch up later. Problem solved?

Kong's story isn't even close to being a deal breaker, but I can see how the nature of its issues, mixed with how high-effort the rest of the attraction is, can lead to some annoyance.

We can't always agree with each other. We do though, most of the time. Nothing personal, just a different way of looking at things.:)....And I did give you a Like at the time on your ride review. :)

Yeah, evac is a transformer. I just thought it was a regular truck. My family pointed out you can see his arm extend out during the ride. I didn't realize it until I paid attention to the video in the line. Part of it is only going through express, you lose part of the pre ride story, I think.

Transformers is a fun ride. When I first rode it in2013 I really loved it, even thought it was better than SpiderMan because it was so immersive. But, it doesn't seem to hold up as well after lots of repeat rides. I would rate it down to probably 6 at Universal (not counting Kong since I haven't rode it yet) and far behind SpiderMan. But it most certainly is a fun entertaining ride.

I don't mind the different of opinion of plot not mattering, it ultimately doesn't for theme park rides. I was just saying that it felt short because it did, not because I was having fun (although I was) - and I did the whole thing, just imagine the people who don't even go through the outside portion.

Yes, the muddled plot doesn't help but I just felt as if something was missing. Bottom line is they took the 360 scene from Cali and expanded upon it to add an actual story for the ride. They didn't change that portion except for adding the new RV. It just feels off. No different than Star Tours. I have fun on the ride, but it doesn't feel right to go from battling the Empire from Ep 4-6, then the First Order for Ep 7, then the Republic from the prequels.

Oh, I completely understand your point.....Concerning the outside: Yeah, I would think if someone rode without the outside portion, the ride would feel incomplete, especially since it loses it's grand entrance. It would be somewhat like JPR without the gate entrance........For me, since I truly like almost every Universal & Disney E & D ticket rides, they all seem too short, & I wish they were longer. I enjoy them so much, even with multiple repeat rides, that they seem to be over before I know it.:)

Disney builds many of its parks in phases. Universal built IOA to be complete from day one. The only things they left out were some more kids rides.

Well... seeing as Kong was literally built on an expansion pad and so was half of Potter, I'll somewhat disagree. I don't think it was "complete", but just ran into bad luck. IOA was starved mostly due to the myraid of problems that came with the resort renaming and the decade it headed into. After 2000, the park was just left sitting there to stagnate for an entire decade. And arguably Potter was so separated from the rest of the park (still is) that it really feels like it's just now the park is getting some love.

I think Kong should've had a different ending that changed depending when you got on. One where Kate kisses him for his hard work and he smiles and one where Kate tries to kiss him, he gets pissed and smashes her to the floor like a ragdoll

Perfect end to the story, all plot holes fixed

I'm glad the Hulk ride doesn't end like that.
