Ops has been complaining for years at DHS and nothing really has changed -- well they have a 3rd Toy Story track coming that should have been there years ago. The "Fast timeline" for Star Wars is just wishful thinking. It will likely be mini-phases (which could push small bits of the land into late 2018 or 2019) and not fully open for 5-6 years. They may push to get it done early, but Disney will be Disney and it still won't happen.

The final product will likely be very good, but miss some things that would make it truly great because of budget cuts. (Yes its Star Wars, but again Disney is still Disney)

it will prob be more accurate to say no major e-ticket will open in studios until 2018 but a lot of little spinners and a small roller-coaster will open in 2017

It's possible that things have gotten so bad on the complaints side and overcrowding at MK that they have no choice but to rush the DHS improvements. Dividing things over multiple fiscal years is all well and good, but if they are seeing vacation planning/spending/patterns/whatever causing a problem that costs them money it might have been decided to put the hammer down and get these projects done. History is not always a good predictor of the future.

knowing Disney instead of rushing construction they will instead open a bunch of smaller things ie restaurants and stores and when the spinners are done sometime next year they will show a new promo video show casing all the new things that have opened and will open at Disney to keep people coming and well it will work not to sound negative but this is the same company that finally announced incredibles 2 and the release date is 2019

I agree Disney doesn't have the best track record. We are getting more than a spinner though and the insiders talking seem to think the date will be sooner than 2020. So we will see. Like I said, at one point no one had faith in Uni and that all changed after Harry Potter opened up. So parks can change. It is all up to the leadership and hasn't leadership changed recently?

Right now, current rumors from insiders is Fall 2018. This changed from 2021 that was the plan when announced at D23. They have, in fact, compressed the construction schedule. The first two phases were supposed to only have a 6 month overlap. Now they will be building them simultaneously.

I don't see how Star Wars starts to get built until Toy Story Land opens. That would be half of the park completely closed for a couple years.

SW will be 2020, just in time for the 50th. Makes sense for the influx they'll get at WDW that year

Rougher than 2015? Disney knows the hits they're taking that's why they're speeding up.

Is attendance down at DHS? It was really crowded the two days we spent there in October. But then again, all the people were in the front of the park. It was basically deserted from Muppets to the back through SOA & LMA & Toy Story to the back of the park. Very long lines for the remaining attractions though. Even the outside queue for Star Tours was overflowing and I had never seen people in that queue on my previous trips.

Fall 2018 is the new rumor, but I doubt highly they can do it without compromising a lot. Very high odds reality will force it getting moved back into 2019, and ultimately everything will still get finished 2020/2021. I wouldn't put money on 2018 for Star Wars.

The Backlot tour closed for Toy Story (Over a year ago).
