That's what I was told by CMs. So, what was it? and I really hope you are not about to tell me it was a technical reason. Because that would be worse reason than the typical guest complain.

There were a two early deaths on the ride. Nothing that was Disney's fault, but there was pre-existing heart conditions with those individuals and the simulation just made it worse. CMs obviously aren't going to say that they did it because of on-ride deaths though, so they just say motion sickness.

Who knew that NASA physical fitness test simulators caused physical stress? It was an.....um, unforeseeable negative consequence.

Yep. Disney didn't want any more trouble or bad PR with that ride. So they toned it down. Again, another reason why Disney wishes they didn't build that ride and wishes they didn't have to deal with it. No way do they ever create another ride like it again.

Oh, and when will people learn that CMers don't know crap. They repeat what the company wants them to repeat. That does not always mean it is true.

going off the thing where people are saying the ride will be similar to spider-man i did hear of a concept of a moving simulator but it was more like star tours on wheels and also had screens on the side and a weird effect using plastic where the could simulate dents and other collisions it was originally suppose to be a roger rabbit ride before that part of the park got canned

Imagine Spider-man but with AAs and practical effects instead of screens.

Stormtrooper AAs, lots of lasers and sparks, and a lot of that pew-pew shooting sound. Throw in a custom John Williams soundtrack and boom. Star Wars ride.

We're hearing very different info about this attraction.

Two rides. One is Flight of Passage clone for Millennium Falcon. Other is interactive trackless shooter attraction. I understand both are very reliant on virtual sets but I can be wrong.

So Disney is actually planning to have their signature STAR WARS land comprised entirely of 3 simulators, one of which will be virtually a clone of the Avatar E-ticket? If that's how it plays out, that sounds incredibly uninspired and underwhelming.

I hope Disneyhead's version is closer to the truth!

The trackless ride system shooter I'd hardly call a simulator.

Well, you'd know better than I would, given the insider info you've been hearing. It might be a semantics thing: if the primary action is conveyed through video footage, to me that's a simulator.

I'm sure the ride will be fun (or at least I hope it will be), but I'd much rather see a really elaborate dark ride (something in the vein of Indiana Jones or Journey to the Center of the Earth) or coaster hybrid. Just to add some variety to a land that will already have 2 rides (the Falcon thing and Star Tours) where the primary action is video-based.

Is a Circle-Vision a simulator? Is HISTA a simulator? Is Shrek? Is If You Had Wings? Anything with video simulating movement?

Fair point. You caught me not being specific enough. If the primary thrust (i.e. let's say more than 50%) of the ride involves moving around (to any meaningful degree) in front of a screen, I consider it a simulator. I'm not saying that's a bad thing in any way. It's just how I think of the rides in my mind. Yes, I'm sure if you listed off every ride in Orlando, you'd find one fitting the description I just used that I probably wouldn't call a "simulator," but you get the point.

Now, if your implication behind all this is that not all simulator (or simulator-ish) rides are the same (which I - of course - would agree with) and that the trackless shooter ride will be a markedly different experience than the Falcon ride (or, for that matter, Toy Story Mania), then I'm happy to hear it. And at the end of the day, I just want Disney building as many rides as they can, so I probably can't be too picky about them.

Very interesting to hear all these rumors for Star Wars attractions. I hope Disney will pick a unique ride system. I just love the Forbidden Journey and Gringotts ride systems. They both are truly ride systems they don't have in any other park. So far the ride systems for Avatar don't sound that special (simulator and boat ride), so I hope with Star Wars Disney will build rides that truly aren't like anything you have ever experienced before. That new ride system for Shanghai Pirates sounds really good.

I would be very surprised and happy if that was the case.

the avatar rides will most likely be more on the slow side with better looking scenes because the biggest problem in ak is the lack of rides and most of the rides it does have are thrill rides so guessing these two will be your more kid friendly slow rides

I would as well, if only because they've done virtually no hyping up of the Na'vi River Journey... if they were going to use that system, i'd think they'd want to make a bigger deal about it.

Dropped a friend a line and they're not aware of the ride using the Pirates from Shanghai ride system.

I'm not discrediting your friend, but it's obvious from the pictures that the ride system is different than the current boat rides. Maybe it won't be the system from Shanghai, but, just because your friend says something doesn't mean it's automatically gospel.

Personally I think we have more solid info pointing toward it being the system than not, but then again i'd think Disney would be making a bigger deal about it so I still think it may not utilize the system.
