So going by that layout outlined, the piece of land closest to Toy Story Mania's ride building is going to be left vacant for future expansions?

That is supposedly earmarked as Star Wars expansion land. It will simply be a berm and house backstage facilities when the land opens.

He went on to say that there will be rather large Back of House buildings there that could prevent expansion if I read it right. At least for the time being that is..

Yes. New BoH buildings in the parks south west corner, south of Maint Base.

Forgive me. I don't get over here as often as I should.

Once the large facades (which I believe will be rock formations in that area) go up, it likely won't seem like nearly as much room as it looks in that simplistic pic.

Simplistic for a reason ;)

And accurate :)

It has been quiet in here for a while so thought I would have a quick browse and see what I could find, didn't search for too long and sure there has been plenty of updates but just thought I would pick out a couple:

Video fly over with some stills int he video from WDW News Today:

Some aerial photos from WDW magic, web link below but I have embedded all the large photos for a better view:

Yeah... it's going pretty slow. I feel like once Pandora is done these lands will start to see significant progress throughout the year, but until then, it's mostly just prep work that's being done.

I think these are the first photos I've seen that really give the scale of how big this project is.

Even though it's the other SWL, I read on Mice Chat that they've pushed the Disneyland SWL opening from Dec. 2018 to summer of 2019. If that's true, and west coast SWL appears way in advance of Orlando, there's no way DHS opens their SWL before 2020.

Oh it's definitely 2020 for SWL at this point. Likely ready around Spring/Summer like Avatar.

I'm very interested to see the timeline this takes compared to Pandora. Granted Pandoras extreme structural challenge, it shouldn't take as long. But by how much

Well from ground break to open, it will have been about 3 years and 3-5 months before we can set foot inside so I assume a similar timeline for SW.

Supposedly that one side is staying, probably becoming part of Muppets Courtyard.

It's staying as theming for an expanded Muppets area. Or that's the word.

It's not surprising to me in any way considering the scope of the project matches the scope of Avatar and from groundbreaking to open it will have taken nearly 3.5 years for Pandora.

Precedent is right in front of our faces.
