It's possible. This was Avatar land almost 2 years ago:

I don't imagine this land is going to be any where near as complex.

Yup, when you think about it, SWL is very much on the same timeline as Avatar if 2019 happens.

Pandora started demolition in January 2014 and as show above, wasn't incredibly far along by January 2015. SWL started demo in April 2016 and 10 months later it's looking fairly in line with Pandora, especially given the larger scale demolition SWL had to undergo.

Pandora's full timeline is Jan 2, 2014-May 27, 2017. SWL started on April 2, 2016. Late 2019 is very possible - even for modern day Disney.

Star Wars: Episode IX is supposed to be released on 2019 isn't it? Perfect tie in and probably open around same quarter.

Having Hollywood Studios' grand opening also double as the world premiere of EPISODE IX would actually be a cool thing, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I still think Disney's going to go all out and star-studded with the grand opening of Disneyland's version, while I expect WDW's version will feature a grand opening ceremony populated by Warwick Davis as the biggest name. Maybe Billy Dee Williams if they can entice him with a couple cans of Colt 45.

Disney announced the area's development in September 2011. Construction began on January 10, 2014, with the land scheduled to open on May 27, 2017 took them almost 3 years to even start

They've already broken ground. Look at the recent aerials. You can see the foundation of one of the rides dug out already.

I think (hope) that they have done their homework on this land and will create two great attractions. With so much up front time spent on design, these lands should shape up pretty quick. I think DS will lag DL only in the sense that they need to get Rivers of America, the train, and Fantasmic back in operation so they are pressing to get all that infrastructure done. The only good thing this does for DS is that any potential bugs will most likely be seen in DL first and ironed out before they start cycling their own system.

If anything, Disney are less likely to cut corners if they move quickly. Look at all the changes to Toy Story Land before construction started.

What's everyone's guesses to the answer to this question:

What will happen to Star Tours when Star Wars Land opens?

Was sitting down to write a new article and was wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on the subject. I mean, it's very separate from the new land, and it's not in any of the concept art. Would they re-route the queue behind MuppetVision and remove the Endor trees and Tatooine Traders? Or just completely re-theme it to a new simulator ride based on a different IP?... Or worse, completely remove it altogether. Thoughts?

(In the case of Disneyland, it's completely on the other side of the park, so no way that's getting connected. Maybe could be rethemed to Iron Man version over there, but legally speaking, that ain't happening over here.)

My guess is they leave it open as it is when SWL opens since they'll need the capacity for the big crowds. A couple of years after that they'll retheme it and maybe in conjunction with a redo of the Indiana Jones area.....Just guessing though since I'm just a rookie when it comes to WDW future plans......I thought I read somewhere that Hong Kong has some sort of exclusivity rights to that Iron Man ride for a number of years.....(When they rethemed it to Star Tours 2 it took a year or so for the conversion, so it's not a quick turn around)

Maybe they could change it to Guardians of the Galaxy?

In any case it's pretty easy to change it over to something else if they want. Change the movie and redecorate the queue it could probably be done in a month but would probably take them a year.

Then what about the replacement for Universe of Energy/Wonders of Life over at Epcot? Isn't that going to be Guardians of the Galaxy?
