The Canopy looks even worse now with that banner. The banner looks good but it just shows off how bad the frame is. They should of destroyed it and built a slim lined canopy that suits the new banner.

They could of easily built themed frames around the track's interior course to at least add a thrill of not being to see the entire layout you are about to go through or just to enhance the theme in general. Some of the concept art early on seem to infer to that. Guess it is just the same big open area but now we are following the glow trail

But...that...costs..money

and besides the new ride is so BLUE!

Oh gosh, that sign.

I liked the concept art better.

I'm going to constantly scowl as I approach the building (as I've always done because toothpick canopy), but if the concept art for the interior comes into fruition and the ride experience is an obvious improvement, I'll ease up.

I think Test Track 2.0 will end up being like Star Tours 2.0. It'll look better, but the experience and overall enjoyment level will be the same.

Pretty good comparison. Makes sense honestly.

That is almost why I would consider this more of a really good refurbishment and refreshening rather than a re-imagining.

Passed by TT yesterday at Epcot. The "TT" scrim on the scaffolding looks absolutely terrible.

I enjoy Star Tours 2 way more than I did the original. But that on-ride concept art does not inspire any confidence. Looks like the same thing with some new lighting.

I could see people taking issue with this being called "Re-Imagined", but at least this is a really good refurb. I wouldn't give up all hope based on concept art, but I think expectations should be tempered. I would say it's a step in the right direction, but TDO isn't paying for it......

I wouldn't put too much into the concept art. I'm going to wait until I actually get a chance to go on it to judge. The art looks very Photoshopped and thrown together just for PR purposes. The queue and post-show look promising though.

Saw the weird blue jelly bean sculpture hung up on a crane past the walls today. I would put up the pics I took but I'm still at the park (waiting 5 hours for my Soarin fast pass to start) and my phone is almost dead. I will try to remember to put them up later or you can go to my twitter feed. Word of caution: I am horrendous at photography and had to get these pics from a distance on my iPhone. They are clear, but my sense of framing is not as good as some others on here. BTW, they might have brought it back down because I saw neither the crane or the sculpture about 45 minutes ago. They either set it and it is now hidden behind the walls or they might have been just testing the placement. My first impression? I get what they were trying to go for but melted jellybean is what I thought of.

A Disney official did mention on the parks blog a while back something along the lines of "The ride experience itself won't change. It will still be the thrilling course it has always been." Given that, I never expected any of the rough road, heating, and cooling effects to be taken out. At the most, this is simply changing the queue and show elements around the ride vehicle to be more futuristic and streamlined.

From what I understand these segments have been removed and/or updated. Take it for what it's worth.

Just to clarify they said the "Dynamics of the ride" would not be altered in the interviews. So that would imply things like speed of the vehicle and the course it physically takes from start to finish. However, we were promised different sets and effects to go through to change the experience. And from the concept art given besides removing things and covering everything else with lighting changes not much happen. Compare the early concept art with futuristic tunnels and whatnot to this one. There still be some similar chambers and scenes waiting somewhere for us but compared to the shots just released it is like a big dark warehouse, with even less than before.

Comparing that actual ride warehouse like shot to the one it used to be I would take the old one when it worked. At least if it was in good shape it had practical effects that were physically interacting with you.

It'll never be Radiator Springs or Journey to the Center of the earth, sadly.

...ok?.... I get the fact we're not seeing some crazy interior upgrade here, but what's the point of just kicking this continuously when we know what we're getting?

From Disney Parks Blog

First Look: Renderings of the New Test Track Chevrolet Design Center Pre-Show Released
While the reimagined Test Track – Presented by Chevrolet is still a few weeks away from opening at Epcot, we have a sneak peek of the attraction’s new pre-show to share with you today.

Upon entering the attraction, you’ll be invited into the Chevrolet Design Center where you can design your own virtual custom concept vehicle at design kiosks. Here, you’ll be asked to make a few selections that really allow you to create a unique vehicle design that’s personalized to your taste.

iPWycpMM5Mkk7.jpg

First, you’re asked to draw an outline of your vehicle. If you don’t have the steadiest hand, don’t worry because you’ll have a chance to smooth out the shape before moving on. Next, you’ll be asked to make some choices that adjust the shape, length and width of your vehicle.

i6slIvnMbtyJI.jpg

Then you’ll select your type of engine, choosing among several fun choices, including Solar Drive, EV Hybrid, and Plasma Burner, among others.

iPSzaWNQtmbKd.jpg

Next up, you’ll make choices on your design’s aesthetics. Here you choose the face of your car, the paint color and graphics, and even choose the wheel size and style.

ibgkstuo3E5zxQ.jpg

And you’re design is complete and ready to be put to the test. From here, you’ll board a SimCar to see how your design compares, as they’re put to the test in the categories of Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power at different points along the attraction’s track.

Honestly, this could still be one of the best attractions in Futureworld when it re-opens.
