The Batman is getting a Chinese release:

“Batman will be taking on a more powerful villain”.

Sounds like the Chinese release will be an alternate version of the film? If so, that’s interesting. I would rather have that than to have the whole film tailored just for the Chinese market.

I don't think they're changing up the film completely for China, but I wonder if they might be placing more on a certain character that is entirely being left out of marketing.

Easily a billion but that runtime for sure is going to hurt its chances at 2 billion

I know many don’t care if a movie is 3 hours but it’s the biggest reason I’m not hyped for the film as well. I just don’t see why an origin story of Batman needs to be that long

I went to see Spider-Man last week and that's the first movie I've seen in the cinema since the last Spider-Man.

I missed the experience more than I thought but the one thing that watching movies at home has spoiled me with is the ability to pause the movie and go to the toilet or maybe I'm showing my age but not being in my 20s any more.

Buying an extra large popcorn and sprite, made the last half hour uncomfortable as I didn't want to miss anything. That was only 2.5 hours long, 3 hours long sounds like I'll need to slow my pace way down when drinking.

To me the difference is Spiderman is the ending of his journey for now, along with two other main spidermans coming back and 5 villains....you need that time.

This is a Batman film with Catwoman, Riddle and Penguin (who is in the film for like 5 mins). I hope they blow me away but really wish films stuck to under 2 hours unless its something like JL or Avengers which have like 5-10 main characters

So, I am putting spoiler caps, but,

This debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and I wanna talk about it. In that, out of context it feels super weird and hilarious, but in context, it seems even more hilarious to me.

The fact that this early on for Batman and Bruce, his way of disappearing after finding information he needs, is to punch Gordon's face so he doesn't get included in Batman's investigation, then running like a madman in GCPD--is the most hilarious thing I think I've seen in a Batman film. Ironically or unironically. It gives such an amateur vibe to Batman that I can genuinely respect the hell out of.

Embargo's been lifted and reviews are looking very strong (91% on RT out of 120). That pleases this Bat-fan very much.

I'll be waiting the 45ish days until it's on HBO Max. I want to see it, but I can wait. Especially for a 3 hour movie.

I really look forward to seeing this but this is the way to go for me.

I'm really going to need a "pause and pee" in there somewhere!

Saw it last night an early IMAX screening. Phenomenal film, right up there with The Dark Knight as the best Batman movie. Good teases and set-ups for the HBO show and a sequel.

Long runtime, tough to find a spot where you can make a bathroom break. I'd suggest holding it in, but there's about a minute long window after a significant plot point is revealed between Bat/Cat about 1hr 45mins in where you could make a run for it.

I've seen it three times now (due to my job) and I don't understand all of the praise it's getting? It's not bad, but it isn't as good as any of Nolan's movies. It definitely feels like it's three hours long. They handled all of the characters as well as they could have, but it still feels overstuffed to me. Like I said, it isn't bad by any means, but it for sure isn't better than or even as good as The Dark Knight like I keep reading. Anyways, just my opinion...

Did you play any of the Arkham games? They're some of my favorite games, and to me I felt like this was a bit like doing a live-action adaptation of some of those detective missions.

Nolan's films are more accessible for common moviegoers, but the hardcore Batman fans will probably come away really loving this take by Reeves.

I've played two or three of them and I got the vibe from it too, but not in a good way. There were times where I was like "uhhh this feels too much like a game to me" for some reason. I do think that's just me though and most people won't feel like that's a problem.

Saw it last night and loved it immensely. Has its issues like all films do, but the passion and love for the character is so there and genuinely inspiring after years of development hell. Not everyone will love The Batman, but those like myself that especially love films like Saw and Zodiac will definitely have their ears perk up as we get, undebatebly, the most realistic, developed, and comic accurate in terms of character understanding Batman we've ever gotten. Also kinda felt like a Purge movie at multiple points? If you love detectivey batman, the Arkham games, serial killer thrillers, Matt reeves prior films, gangster flicks, etc, you will love the batman.

I really enjoyed this! Total detective noir vibes. I do think that some of that movie could have been trimmed, but all in all I see why the world building was so important, especially since they are doing that HBO show based in the same universe.

If you haven't seen in the theater and are thinking about it, try to go with a Dolby showing if possible. This film is pretty dark, so paired with their screen and sound, Dolby is almost certainly the way to go.

I really enjoyed it! I think it's maybe the most well rounded Batman movie ever made. It balances the gritty, noir elements with the more fun, comic book elements that other movies leaned way too hard either way. I think the plot isn't anything special, but I definitely loved the relationships between characters. Excited to see it again and where this series will go moving forward.

Loved it though it was too long. Could've maybe shaved 20-30 minutes off and I think we would still have a fantastic movie.

It is the best adaptation of comic book Batman, focusing more on his detective skills while still showing his ability to fight; and that Gotham felt "lived in". Loved the cinematography and soundtrack (Giachinno killed it again). Pattinson is superb as Batman, but I need to see more as Wayne. This Batmobile is probably my favorite version ever and features a top-tier car chase. All the cast was great, really; and while Dano is a good Riddler - I feel like it could've featured a bit more of his zaniness (a la "thumb drive") which seems to get a bit lost as the other stories start intertwining with each other (But that's more of a nitpick).

I'd probably put #2 behind Dark Knight as the best Batman movie.

So its good...I liked it but I think basically and hour of this film could be cut.

I think my main issue with this film is the confusing right vs wrong stance. Do the reason Batman and Riddler are a thing are because out system is soooo broken that it is creating broken men who go off and do violence....but its bad to kill those who causes all this pain? Like the system is broken if they go to jail they just come back out and do more bad...so its fine to be Batman as long as you don't kill those who have the power to cause other's crimes?

Basically it's don't break the law...unless sometimes you have to...lol.

Also...another joker? whyyyy Batman has other villains Mr Freeze and Clayface have great origins and aren't like mob figures like most villains in Batman universe are now

The good, The Batman suit is perfect. Catwoman and Riddle were really well done and think Batman is great but because of the old school moral ethic's lesson this film is pushing...i dont know if I get the character once again its fine for this guy to do warrentless searches and beat you up but taking out the people in power that are making the city a hell hole is too far....why who is deciding what is too far...if you break one law and say its for Justice why are other laws not ok to break?
Anyway like Robert as Batman he at least felt like him unlike Ben....I'm sorry but farfanoogin Ben's Batman (not the actor) that guy never felt like Batman.

I'm very interested in the sequel...I really hope we get to see Batman in a lawless town and would assume Hush is in the next film. Also after like two riddles it could have been just done...we didn't need more riddle murders like the film didn't need to me three hours, easily could have been cut down, I feel like while it had cool parts the middle of the movie just cut have been cut down.
