Im guessing with the ride’s history manufactures would prefer it was completely torn down before they build anything.

Would you guys trade Mummy for a Ghostbusters AR shooter attraction?

I’d take a GB overlay of the current attraction over its current state or a new AR attraction. Leaves the thrilling indoor coaster in place while giving it a better theme than its current - albeit charmingly campy - outdated IP. Also would return the area to IPs actually set in NY.

That's my assumption-- they won't repair or build ride vehicles for it, but I don't see why they wouldn't build a replacement from the ground up.

I'd guess they'd want to retain some sort of coaster in that space, primarily for kinetic appeal and park balance.

Kinetic appeal only works if it's an outdoor coaster, really. When it's in a giant warehouse, the wandering tourist won't know the difference between if it's a Coaster or some other type of attraction until they ask a team member what type of ride it is.

Yes. I was referring to an outdoor coaster, of course (R&R replacement). No kinetic energy if guests can't see it.

Did mention in the Mummy thread, but if the queue is changing, it’s really the last “Studio” type thing at Universal STUDIOS right? Other than HMUS? Fallon barely?

It just feels like it’s losing a lot of it’s charm in a lot of ways.

There’s still Fallon, Marylin street show, HMU, Animal Actors. But otherwise, RIP studio theme :(

One quick addition to that short list of "studio" attractions...

The E.T. Adventure still has somewhat of a studio theme. While the park temporary does not play the Steven Spielberg director preshow, it still has walls like a soundstage in rooms before guests enter the themed woods. It's minimal, however, E.T. Adventure could debatably be placed on that list too.

The theme park equivalent of a behind the scenes DVD Extra is gone

But immersing you in your favorite film and media franchise is still very much alive

The immersion aspect has always been a part of USF (see: JAWS and Kong)

Now it's just the dominant focus, and might I add, being improved upon

Has anyone seen the new universal ads that are reminding everyone they can get jump the line for free if they stay on property? It’s definitely very pointed, and I can see it be effective marketing. It’s currently playing in every YouTube video I watch.

It's an interesting commercial, never seen Universal promote the free express for the preferred hotels so blatant before. They usually mention it once in a commercial and move on. I wonder if they're either seeing demand for the preferred hotels drop in preference for the cheaper resorts or it's targeting Genie/Lightning Lane.

I'm going to assume it's the latter.

I think it’s 100% Genie related, but also wouldn’t be shocked if premium hotel sales for the winter are rather low, so good timing for a big marketing push.

I feel like it's targeting both, and perhaps they're worried that people think U-Express is as terrible as G+, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some more about it

Universal deluxe hotel Express is the best perk in the theme park business. It makes complete business sense to advertise it to a general public that might not be aware of the benefit. And, as Joe says, Universal surveys have often asked respondents about their reasons for choosing a deluxe hotel, and Express is always one of the choices. Evidently, it polls highly......and....as opposed to Disney Genie plus, it keeps it simple. A big big point.

Amen to this. Also, not having to schedule a return time.

Yes....plus unlimited use.....Genie plus is not even in the same ballpark. Genie plus is a Little League field while Universal Hotel Unlimited Express is Major League Baseball, in comparison.

Genie is Disney's continued way of making the simple overly complex and frustrating. Express Pass is good old KISS.
