I never said it did. But if you think either of those two attractions are "flaws", you don't understand what a theme park is.

I'm sorry I was thinking Disney in general and not those two attractions.

Oceaneering is really pushing Universal on there new trackless darkride. I've been told Universal Execs and Creative have already gotten a demo of the RV in a secret "local" location and are awaiting the opening of Antarctica to see its execution in a dark ride setting. I truly believe we will see this tech utilized at Universal Orlando within 3-4 years.

Now this is awesome! I really hope Universal utilizes this ride system and brings us some amazing family dark rides. Whether or not their goal is to bite into Disneys pie or not, they build some kiddie/family rides that gets people's attention it will for sure bring in more of that demographic

Would it be possible to stretch the darkless track ride tech a little bit, and give the riders a little control? Like a Bikini Bottom Boat Driving school that lets kids drive, but still maintains the same speed and direction to keep the ride flowing evenly?

That would be pretty awesome! Maybe even add in the controlability that mission space has. Like if they needed to brake they hit a button and it braked etc...

As cool as that sounds I'm a little apprehensive about giving people too much control. Case in point, last month at Legoland I wittnesed tons of people on their Boat School ride take there boats and do 360s and even go the wrong direction. It was such a mess

There has to be a way to do it that lets them turn but not too much, as to keep everything moving in the same direction. And then there could be interactive effects, like hitting a button and making that one tower fall, complete with audio of a man screaming "MY LEG!".

I think something like the joysticks on M:S could work. Have a bunch of steering wheels with pre-programmed feedback. Then some other wacky Spongebob buttons you need to press.

Exactly! They could really do a great job on this and I think it would attract a lot of people if done correctly

Have you ever read those books where you select something to do and then go to that page and read the story until the next question? They could do that with a trackless ride. A create your own story type ride. I think that would be very interactive, creative, and allow the whole family to join in.

I agree with the guy that has the 6 year old that wants to ride coasters. I see us not being able to go to Uni soon because my daughter got her first taste of a roller coaster and loved it. So I can see her being that kid that just can't wait to get to a certain height to ride different coasters.

POTC and HM are the two rides that no matter who I am with, the people I am with ALWAYS want to go on those two rides. They are on everyone's can't miss list. So honestly, I am not sure how anyone can say that these types of rides are what is wrong with Disney. When Disney added in the popular character than everyone I know wanted to go to Disney to ride POTC. I honestly don't think some of you understand business and why Disney is as popular as it is. If you did, you would not think POTC is what is wrong with Disney.

And to further explain and elaborate why it is a perfect example of the state of Disney, there are many standards and effects that have remained broken or missing that made the attraction famous enough to base a movie off of it in the first place.

I also love the slow moving dark rides Disney has. For me, theme is more important than thrill. That's why I enjoy Space Mountain more than The Incredible Hulk (sorry). Maybe because I live in a state full of roller coasters I'm just tired of them, and I like the slow moving stuff as a break from thrill.

POTC was terrible. I was never more disappointed in my life.

This. Do not trust the guests with any type of RV control (not preprogrammed) or unpredictable elements. Such a bad idea. These people can barely drive their cars around Orlando let alone a several hundred thousand dollar ride.

Um okay, if you say so. I'm going to defend myself here. I didn't realize Disney's theme was supposed to be half broken and inconsistent boat rides, and copy and pasted omnimovers. If that's the theme then you've caught me. I will give you the fact that HM is beautifully themed. So really it all comes back to PotC.

On a side note, I'm still loving how I'm the headline of your signature. I've become the speaking voice for all of OU on Disney.

Exactly, but Disney's always been more about the corporate money game. The story doesn't even make sense. Half the elements are more broken than Twister.

I go on the ride because two separate times my boat has washed ashore in the scene before unload and caused entire ridestops. The fix? A TM has come out and had us as a boat rock back and forth until the vehicle slips off the landing. I think that's the most fun I've ever had on PotC

Its an incoherent mess with half baked effects and it feels like I'm on a ride being told by a pirate who has had a bit too much rum. Did you mean Spaceship Earth instead of Space Mountain? Because most days I find SM more terrifying than Hulk. Especially with the lights on. The last time that happened I was fearful for my hands and now they stay under me at all times.

Primeval Whirl is terrible. Stitch's Great Escape is terrible. Sinbad and Dudley are terrible.

PotC? Good, but a shadow of the others around the world.

is it all possible that people are exaggerating the 'terribleness' of Disney just to get their points across? There's no way people can really think the two premiere dark rides in the world are bad.

Look, all I want is a few more rides that my family will enjoy together. While the signature rides at Disney mostly lack large height requirements and aren't overtly intense, the signature rides at Universal (Mummy, Hulk, FJ, DC, Spiderman, Simpsons, Transformers, JPRA) are either somewhat scary or very physical. I hate sitting at the exit with my little ones while the wife and older kids ride, and I think a lot of vacationing tourists feel the same way. Well Universal has a chance to fix that with the KidZone redo.

Mine as well. It only took that one time for me not to get on again. I actually enjoyed the Treehouse attraction the most at Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. But that is a land I hope Kidzone doesn't become. Just an overall disappointing land At Kidzone's rate now it's not disappointing to me and I'm an adult. Just like what UNI tries to do. Hopefully if Kidzone is revamped, it stays somewhat the same in the aspect of having creativity!

I love HM, one of the few reasons I rarely venture into MK, Though POTC is a short, broken, movie tied in Boat ride that is a shadow of it's former self and others around the world.
