I’m sorry... but clearly they have not figured out what the capacity should be. This is not it.

Any reports from Disney today? How do those parks look?

Magic Kingdom seems to be looking decent

DHS the measures much worse.

These were really the only pics I could find.

Busy, but far better distancing. I was reading reservations are completely full for the weekend, but not sure if that's 100% true.

I know Disney has wider walkways mostly, but they must be far more conservative with their capacity numbers. Reservations probably still deter people also.

DHS is their only problem child as the park really was not built for big crowds and most walkways are tight. Yet right now, it's the park everyone wants to go to. All the other parks are good in having larger walkways.

According to BlogMickey, at the very least, MK was "sold out" today, but that only means that the reservations are filled. A good % of those people may not show up, which leads to fewer people in the park.

This is on the Governor too though because didn't he expand the allowed capacity for theme parks recently?

No, it’s not. He could’ve allowed full capacity and it’s still 100% on Universal on what and how to implement a safe limit. There should be no “shared blame“ here.

Nick said:
Yeah. I'm heated too because from my experience, TM areas are doing a terrible job of distancing (or the TMs straight up don't care to put on a mask backstage). I know they have to stay afloat, but man, this is so irresponsible the way they're going about it on all sides.
One has to think by this point that everyone working there has been exposed. I don’t even know if it matters anymore for 95% of the TMs.

Psh, good thing I didn’t book my trip this weekend. When I found out that all hotel rooms were booked at Universal this weekend, I pushed my trip to next week. Looks like I made the right decision.

Disney has reservations to keep the crowds down: Passholders: I'm cancelling we should be able to go any day!
Universal does not have reservations: Passholders: This is insane - they should have reservations and limit the number of people.

Damned if you do.....

I think it’s long past time for Universal to get with the program and start cracking down on being stationary while eating and drinking. As long as they continue to sell the Freestyle cups, people will use those to avoid mask wearing. And when it’s as busy as today seems to be, that’s a huge hazard.

That's the thing too. I really want to go back and visit. I'm dying to check out the Tribute Store, I miss riding Hagrids a ton, I'd love to visit some old friends in the parks, etc. But Universal keeps showing how half-heartedly they're taking this whole pandemic and I just can't do it. The pictures are brutal and I'm not about to ignore TM friends telling me that most venues are skipping out on certain COVID cleaning procedures in order to push capacity. It's just not it.

EDIT: I'm legitimately so heated. Got a tweet from Universal saying "this has since been addressed, to the teams in the area" as if the TMs are the issue. The TMs can literally only do so much with the capacity disaster they've set up. It's infuriating that they would even pretend 1) it's the TMs faults and 2) that the problem is now "fixed". This is literally 10 minutes ago:

Same, I’d love to see The Tribute Store and I was genuinely looking forward to finally going back to the parks this month but with how ignorant Universal has been with Covid, etc., I’ve just completely soured on the idea of visiting any time soon.

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed they can get it together across the board, but, right now I’m ngl I’m disappointed.

The parks are still wonderful during the week. If you can go Monday-Friday there's a big difference in the crowds. I've literally had the Tribute Store to myself.

I don't feel like Disney is any better than Universal. I see families walking around the Disney parks with out any masks on too.

I’ve only spent a week at Disney so far, but when I was there I never felt unsafe (Disney Springs, otoh). I did see some people with their masks down, but they were so few and far between, and the parks were so empty every day, that when I would occasionally see someone doing that they were very easy to keep my distance from.

I’m sure Universal is fine during the week, but, those pictures from today (for me) are indefensible. Hopefully, when they figure out a way to do better in all areas I’ll be back.

It's Saturday and it's Labor Day weekend. I would not be going during this time. That's still not a good look though. I mentioned how slammed it was on Saturday when I was there a few weeks ago. This takes it to another level. I'd rather go during the week when it's empty.

You may get an unwanted side effect of people dropping from dehydration if they have to pull over each time to drink. Double edged sword

It's not that hard or time-consuming to pull off to the side for a drink for a minute. If you're at the point of dehydration, you should be cooling off in shade and not walking in direct sunlight.

I know that and you know that but the point was the people using it as an excuse while hearing the message to stay hydrated. This country has become obsessed with drinking fluids at all times. I do it, this is not an endorsement of skirting the mask rules just a statement of what might happen if people feel the need to "do" the parks but also feel slowed down by unmasking.

Arches is fairly large, I wonder how they determined the capacity? Would not like to be at Delicate Arch with a crowd.

It’s the highlights junk that is the NP‘s selling points... and these days they do need to sell it. The highlights can become a mess... Park Loop road Ocean Drive here was probably Universal today. Just GROSS amounts of people.

I touched up exterior paint on the house and stayed put like in A Quiet Place while they crept around in great numbers. The town was crawling today.

The state parks here have been double & triple normal crowds all summer (per state park press releases), both weekends and weekdays.

I leave them to the tourists and visit in the off times if I can. This year is probably heavier than in past with less open but hopefully as people learn how to travel safely the pressure will wane.

I drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and visited Shenandoah and Great Smoky this summer and it was special. Busy but the joy of going to the places created out of the Great Depression and seeing what the big thinkers could dream and create was very satisfying so I expect many others would see this as a great opportunity.
