New trees and pavement look very nice.  Feels open with the ticket booth removed.  I wonder if they'll install automated kiosks somewhere like movie theaters.

The area in red is surrounded by construction walls. When I was as on the Tour Friday, I saw construction crews stripping and gutting the inside of the buildings. I also saw a backhoe and excavator sitting next to the buildings.

I'd say those building wont be around much longer.

On Saturday it was just chain link not construction walls, exactly.  It would be nice if these buildings were more interesting, that's for sure.

It'll be interesting to see what this develops into. It'll either become new studio office space, new soundstage, expanded Metro sets into that area, or a new tour animation.

didn't someone say a while back that the area with the chain fences now is slated to become new soundstages? I can be entirely wrong, but I belive that this is the case.

You're right, I have a slight memory of someone saying that. Can't come soon enough! The faster a new soundstage goes up elsewhere in property, the quicker they can demolish and replace the lower lot soundstages!

Yes! I have previously said that they will be sound stages! Probably why they added the expanded warehouse by the Bates Motel.

Just got word that employees will be breaking in the ET parking lot to use it as a relocation lot starting the 25th through the holidays.

Construction walls are down from entrance plaza.  This area is looking very nice.  There's a spot for one more of these new palms to get dropped in.  Add a bunch of self-serve ticket kiosks then visitors who have been away for a while won't recognize the place.

Annual pass black-out dates have been lifted from December 31 to January 3.

I wonder if they're projecting incredibly low crowds...

This makes me happy. I was wanting to get one more day of Grinchmas in before it ended. Now I just have to make sure I'm off on either Saturday or Sunday...

if they want to lift the rest of the blackout dates before the APs expire in February, that'd be great :P

With the cheaper prices online, they are really hoping more people will take advantage of buying online and not at the park. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there already 2 self serve ticket machines to the right of the Saddle Ranch restaurant. I don't remember the being open a lot.

Noticed today for the first time how much work is being done to the side of the studio store.

Part of the fun of visiting Universal is seeing what's blocked off.  Someone should have made a game of guess-where-the-walls-will-be-today.  ;-)

Here's the entrance area near the studio store.  Definitely doesn't look like last week.

Here's the path by the studio store inside the park.

Love this intricate casting.

Lots of windows openings getting their ironwork.

The building with the five long vertical windows even has some glass panes installed.

Universal Plaza Snack Bar was closed today.

And so was Production Central.  Even the windows were blacked out.

Brews Bros. Coffee stand is gone.  A rainy el nino winter seems like it would have been a great time for coffee sales.

That coffee stand was doing pretty good business during Grinchmas and the cool weather. I wonder why they removed it. Maybe it's only temporarily gone? It doesn't seem like a good idea while cool weather and rain will likely be in the forecast for the next couple of months.

^ I'd imagine they removed the stand to ease crowd flow in that area. The pathway is very congested.
