^Starbucks is the current rumor among employees. One of the Brews Brothers people were saying that the green building across from them was going to become a Starbucks.

And augh that yellow is so garish, all the colors in fact especially that one. It doesn't provide a natural lead up to the Plaza Tower.

Well wait a minute Ryan, maybe not at this point and time because of the walls, but once they go down you can see that it is parallel to the enterance to the Plaza itself.

...I know. That's my point. The tower is the weenie at the end of the strip and right now it doesn't look quite right.

The sign on Lankershim and Universal Hollywood Drive is being torn down or redone with a newer and better sign with a Jumbotron type screen.

I'm curious to see how they redo that sign since the new bridge is in place.

I always found it amusing how the "welcome to universal city" sign is way up on the hill just before the parking booths which has the "universal studios hollywood" sign above them. It seems like the "welcome to" signage should be at the bottom of the hill. And now that there is the new bridge, it can really act as a proper entrance portal.

I hope that made sense.. I'm not fully awake today

^ Glad someone noticed. Inside Universal and USHForums will be receiving an updated design that will coincide with our tenth anniversary.

We will have more information when the redesign is completed.

New red carpet is smaller than before.  Look very nice though.  You can see in the pavement on the left (and pic #2) the spots where new ticket kiosks will be installed.  Sorry to see jobs lost but it should keep the crowds moving.  Kiosks can conduct the transaction is various languages (if so programmed) which is probably very convenient for some visitors.  Would be handy if online transactions conducted elsewhere could be printed here similar to how pre-purchased movie tickets are handled.

I would love to see some comparison shots from last year after the main gate is completed.  If only we can get rid of the cheesy dialogue on the speakers at the main gate.

Okay it's pretty cheesy. But it's a theme park. Theme parks are cheesy in general. It adds to the charm of the entrance.... or lack thereof

I appreciate your honesty.  And cheesy has always been a part of Universal.  However, there is not another Universal park in the world which has to advertise its rides from the main gate.  I would like to follow the tempo of the other parks in the world and add some great Universal music to the main gate rather than attempt to hype people up with dialogue that nobody (but us) are listening to.

I agree with Chris. The entry plaza/gate should just play iconic Universal music and maybe even music from the different attractions like Disney does. Advertising the rides with cheesy dialogue (especially the Simpsons) is so cringeworthy.

Really? What's not to like about the cheesy adverts? They're not just good, they're good enough!

So you're thinking they should do something along the lines of the Studio Tour music playlist which plays tracks from Liar Liar, The Mummy, Jurassic Park, and ET?

I think that would be a good addition indeed.
