Yes, USH should be more like Orlando and play different movie themes. There is nothing better than passing through the arches while the Beetlejuice, JP, ET, BTTF, etc themes play. It helps set the mood for the adventure you're about to have. Kinda like how Transformers has its epic music playing outside of the ride. It helps draw you in..

So you're thinking they should do something along the lines of the Studio Tour music playlist which plays tracks from Liar Liar, The Mummy, Jurassic Park, and ET?

I think that would be a good addition indeed.

Exactly. Just keep it to iconic sweeping musical scores and instrumental tracks. Simple, elegant, beautiful, fitting, and sets the mood.

Why would you advertise and try to hype up what's inside with cheesy dialogue? It's unnecessary. Guests are already THERE, waiting to get inside.

In other news,

I'm excited about it! Not a huge event but it's so cute and I absolutely love the plum blossom trees. I enjoyed it last year No mention of Mandarin Megatron though....that was one of the weirdest and funniest encounters I've ever had lol.

True. They will most likely be there too! Costumes are ready. But that might also be because they're not very popular or well known chafacters unfortunately. Which I sincerely hope will change ASAP when Illumination makes a new film about them!

I like the new, more open, space in the entry plaza area.

More work on the pedestrian bridge is happening too. Should be done within a few months for Potter.

The entrance looks so weird right now. I'm sure it will look great once completed, but it will definitely be a little odd.

I'm amused by the "Universal" banners on the construction walls. Is the original Universal sign completely ripped out?

I remember that being mentioned. After taking a closer look at the one pic, I believe I see the dirt where it once was. Curious to see the new entrance sign they put in. Hopefully it will be a proper "entrance portal".

Megatron surprisingly is one of the characters for this years lunar celebration.they were having auditions for fluent mandarin VA's for him

That isn't surprising, Mandarin speaking Megatron is pretty much the main highlight for the Lunar New Year event.

Here are a few photos of the CityWalk construction progress I took today, January 22nd.   Enjoy!

The Lankershim Tram station is having some construction done. When I arrived, it appeared like they were making a tram lane because of the night curbs on both sides, but when I returned at the end of the day, it appears they covered the big curb with asphalt so make the area more even.

Finally some Shoe Palace progress.

There seems to be some digging going on in the middle of the walkway between Wasabi and Starbucks

Here is a fountain update. The fountains were designed and built by WET Designs, same company who did the Bellagio Fountains. They've started putting in glass windows on the floor slabs to cover the lights (two lights per slab). They've also put PVC pipe over the little fountain area. 

 

Here is the progress on the Lankershim Project. Really coming together.

That is so weird not having the USH sign there... and I've noticed they seem to have dropped the "Hollywood" from "Universal Studios". I know its not really a big deal, but I honestly feel like its stupid for them to change the name to just "Universal Studios", like the construction wall banners currently represent. Its too simplified. I'll wait to reserve judgement when the new sign is in place.

As for the new fountain... considering the extensive work going into it, I have to wonder if they plan to implement a "dancing fountain show". Its really the only logical explanation for this much work... plus the new information about the company behind the fountains.

Your whole set was great photos.  Thanks.  Regarding the above photos specifically, when I was there on Wednesday they were marking out the job.  I was surprised that they cut the pavers rather than just lift them out.  I hope they're going to redo this pavement area otherwise it's going to look quite sloppy.  The below pics are from January 20. 

Sorry I was too busy to post any pics on Wednesday.  And yes, I'm at the park even more than you thought.
