Universal has announced an official opening of Sept 22nd. Hours go to 11am-11pm starting the 23rd.

If this is like Grill Brew the 22nd will be a press only grand opening.

This place was a madhouse over the weekend. Tried to go for dinner on Sunday night but there was a 2.5 hour wait for a table for two. They really hit a home run with the theming/décor. Everything looked great!! It's also going to be a gold mine for Universal. Not only do they have the regular restaurant, but they have a gift shop as well as a counter service where you can walk up and order milkshakes. That's 3 sources of income all in one restaurant. Not bad.

Does anyone know if they are accepting preferred reservations for on-site guests?

The logo at the end of the video looks just like the cardboard sign out front. Sigh.

Hopefully it will be easier to catch an early/mid afternoon table once they start opening for lunch.

Another possibility is that the company that won the contract went under. This has happened to Universal a few if not many times in the past... an unfortunate start-over situation. A reason Universal tends to come in on budget unlike the mouse.

The animation of the gears in the video for the logo leads me to believe the permanent sign will also have moving gears when it is complete and installed.

This contains a very short speeded up video of milkshakes being made.

Was tempted with a burger but we opted to try a few of the appitizers. Went for the chocolate bread, totchos, truffle fries and the sliders and finished with chocolate cocktail. Was an unusually dinner to say the least. image.jpg

I finally got to go to it. Wait to eat was too long so we settled for looking around. My friend commented that the place did not smell like chocolate as she expected.

Quick impressions:

  • The gift shop was doing a brisk business
  • Line for milkshakes was short
  • Outdoor seating did not look to be popular
  • The inside is very impressive
  • The big indoor screenz were unexpcted
  • Guests are willing to put up with a long wait to dine here

I imagine outdoor seating will be much more popular in the November to March time frame.

You lose the theming sitting outside. I wouldn't want to sit out there.

I ate at toothsome last week and it was PHENOMINAL. I split a burger w my brother, it had meatloaf, sirloin, mashed potatoes, and sweet corn. It got me REALLY full, but it was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. The server was just just amazing, I legit have no words. My family and I couldn't get desert cuz we had to wait 1hr and a half, but my overal expirience was speechless.

I had the salmon (which was just okay), a chocolate cherry mule (which was delicious), and the peanut butter milkshake (which was quite tasty but excessively large). Overall though, I'm not sure it was worth the hour wait...
