I used to hear that one specifically about Mickey bars at Walt Disney World. I think it's because they added a little bit of pixie dust.

I don't find the prices at UOR to be out of line for what I am served, I do find the prices at WDW to be out of line for the carp they serve and call food.

Wow! Sounds like they are all doing well.

I've heard that NBC may be re-tooling their menu.

Interesting. Has it been underperforming a decent bit? I know the reception is mixed.

I think it is more a case of now knowing what is selling and what is not. It is not uncommon for new restaurants to retool the menu after opening. As a matter of fact, most restaurants do it.

All the new places at CityWalk have had menu adjustments after opening.

At Disney you don't usually get your first choice so you need options. At Uni, if you want to eat at Mythos at 5, you can generally eat at Mythos at 5.

You can't make reservations for Cowfish anywhere.

I don't see how the website is bad. I clicked on dining which gave me a drop down menu and one of the choices was reservations. Very clear and simple.

I have no clue how I missed it. I clicked on Dining and was looking for reservations and didn't see it yesterday, but I see it today. Maybe because it is "Dining" reservations I missed it? I know when looking for Hours it always trips me up that it is Theme Park Hours instead of Park Hours or Hours. Universal loves to throw extra words and when scanning the first words I miss it.

I just don't want to wait 30+ minutes after a day at the park, so would prefer that all of the places in citiwalk took reservations and they were all in one place vs. doing one on my phone, another on open table, and another via Universal website.

I can't believe anyone is defending Universals website. It is clearly the worst website of the 3 parks. You can't get show hours very far in advance and if you are going on a Sunday forget about it won't be updated until after your visit or the morning of if you are lucky. It is clunky, information shows up different in two different places (Photo pass is one example, HHN was another), and it is just not easy to navigate. You don't need to spend a Billion dollars to make it better, Disney website prior to their 1B dollar Magic Band project was still way better than Universals website. The dining reservations piece and main pages have barely changed. It is only the My Experience stuff that is new. Some navigation is a little different, but the main stuff was all there before and easy to find. Not to mention Sea Worlds website blows Universal out of the water and they have not spent Billions on it.

I don't want to HAVE to leave the park at a set time to make my dining reservation. I would rather wait 30+ minutes and have more freedom and flexibility.

I agree Universal could use a better reservation system, but they are way ahead of Disney when it comes to the overall experience.

I said this in another post. I think it is how people vacation on which one they prefer. I don't think the person who enjoys the Universal experience more is wrong and I don't think the person that enjoys the Disney experience more is wrong. They are just two different families with two different ways of vacationing. That is like telling the Beach lover that skiing vacation is way better. It is more preference. Some people love to plan and have no issues with a Disney vacation and others love more flexibility and therefore like a Universal vacation. There is nothing wrong with either person/family.

I like my Universal vacation as much as I like my Disney one and I agree that they are both very different. I am patient enough to wait at Uni if I have not completely decided on my dinner choice earlier in the day. I enjoy people watching and hanging out in City Walk waiting for my phone to go off. With Disney, however, most of the time you are shut out completely and there is no opportunity to wait around for table to open. They were booked 4 months ago when you had to choose what you wanted to eat before you even knew which park you would be in.

Yes, I strongly agree with your post. I like WDW Disney. But not the fact that I have to plan out where & when I'm going to be somewhere long in advance. I have no problems doing the fastpass stuff. It's fairly easy. But, once again, it's confining. And dinner reservations are a pain, since I have to plan my day around them, instead of the other way around. Heh, Disneyland Resorts not like WDW. It's more like Universal where no planning is needed. Anaheim gets it. Orlando doesn't. So, it's not really a Disney thing (planning up the butt) It's more of a WDW thing.....I vacation like I mean it, namely relaxation & leisure at Universal Orlando. No planning, just do what I want when I feel like doing it. And that changes on a dime when I'm on vacation. Just like Disneyland resort in Anaheim. :)

As a long time attendee at Disneyland, I approve

Anyways, back to Toothsome's.

It was implied that the large and varied menu was made to serve as Universal's analogue to The Cheesecake Factory. If this is true, what are the odds that the menu gets trimmed? I sort of wonder if instead of trimming they might just replace unpopular dishes with new dishes that fall under the same general umbrella.

If you want high quality dining and less planning at WDW, make a lot of your dinners at Disney Springs. There's never an issue getting into those restaurants and they are all very high caliber.

Another tip for walk-ins is pretty much any restaurant at DHS or DAK and Skipper Canteen and Plaza Restaurant at MK. This is coming from a local who goes a decent amount with no reservations and still am able to get in fairly easy just walking up.

I'll be heading back to Orlando in October on a business trip/getaway with just the wife (no kids :)).
We will be doing one day at Uni (just went in August) as part of her convention package, but will be going mainly to Epcot for Food & Wine.
Toothsome was not open when we were there so I will definitely be checking it out.
We also plan to hit up Disney Springs since we have not been to Disney since 2013 before all the new construction had taken place.

Everyone please keep this on topic of Toothsome. There is a general CityWalk subsection and Disney Springs talk can be moved to the Disney subsection.

I have a few questions about Toothsome if anyone may assist.
1. (kinda silly question), but... This is a sit down restaurant, right? I know there are seats in it, but do they prefer that you make reservations? It's not the type of restaurant where you walk in and grab a tray and choose whatever food they have more or less pre-cooked?

2. Someone above mentioned the other day there was roughly a 2 hour wait to get in... Obviously the place just opened so it's going to be busy, but how long does the newness crowd general last? I'm going down toward the end of September for HHN and really would like to check the place out, but a 2 hour wait to get food is pretty absurd.

3. I read somewhere that (I think) last week was the soft opening. Are they officially open now and offering the full menu posted online?

4. For those of you who have been able to check it out... (most importantly) Is the food any good?

@ThNdIzNiR

1. They are not taking reservations yet. It is a table service restaurant with a full wait staff.

2. I see this place having an hour wait around the Dinner hour for a while. The wait for Brunch is less.

3. Still in softs.

4. Everything I had was delicious. (Pork Belly Sliders, Filet Oscar, and Chocolate Mousse)

Does anyone know where I can find the background soundtrack that's played inside the restaurant here?

I was wondering the same thing, I was in there for a while today and I know for sure this song plays:

Most of the music is called Electro Swing, I don't know any more of the exact songs but this collection has a few that sound like they might play in Toothsome:

So we just left. Tried one of their Old Chocolate Fashioned, had the Pork Belly Sliders again, and the Duck Flatbread. I have a hard time describing how much I love this place.
