I would guess the Shrek interior is padded, so probably not.

Walt Disney World has five omnimover rides. The number of ride vehicle types is a bit irrelevant.
I've been hearing Universal has received complaints on piledriving noise from guests? Is it really that bad?

The only ones I know of are the Haunted Mansion and Finding Nemo. What are the other three? (I don't visit Disney very often) Some people think Transformers shouldn't even be put it because it uses the same vehicle as Spiderman, I'm not one of them though.

When I was there yesterday, you can feel the ground shake if you are by Mel's and you can here the noise all around New York and Hollywood. It doesn't really sound like every eight to ten seconds then a loud blast, it is more of a jack hammer type noise for 15 seconds at a time. Then the lift the machine back up and push it back down and the jack hammer noise starts again.

Okay, someone help me with the definition here. What is an Omnimover? It's likely something I already know, I just don't know the name for it.

A continuously moving ride. Huge capacity eaters because they are always loading and never stop (save for disabled guests).

This is crazy! Every time I check the boards this thread has another 10 pages added to it. They demolished the soundstage in a matter of days, driving dump trucks and equipment through the park during hours. Now I look and there's a crane on site. They even knocked out power to a neighboring building (epic win!) I have never seen anything this fast paced in the industry, and words alone cannot describe the anticipation that I'm feeling right now!

Its possible they were the cause for power problems at Shrek and Despicable Me this morning.

Amazing how much quicker Universal is at construction than Disney. While I hated the Transformers movie, the ride looks awesome, so I would be thrilled to have it at USF. If necessary, they should take Shrek out for Transformers or another E-Ticket. Shrek is fun, but 3D shows in theme parks are kind of behind the times and don't have high redo factors.

^^^There's enough room in the existing plot. No need to take out Shrek for TF.

Pretty genius to have a ride that is smart enough to go from 1 floor to the next without the rider even knowing it happened. That's a hell of a space saver.

It really is a terrific engineering feat and design. I'd love to have a chat with whoever came up with it.

Since 3D is so common in theaters now I think theme parks really should do one of two things

1. Do a 360 3d like seaworld
2. Do more shows like terminator 2 3D

But simple projection shows at theme parks should be removed and replaced.

Couldn't agree more. But I'll pass on the 360 3D show for Universal.

I have to disagree. If a 3D show is done right in a theme park setting, it can do things no common theater does. There's nothing wrong with a good 3D show in the parks. Now when it's something like Shrek or EO, go ahead and burn it to the ground. But if an attraction is of good quality, I don't want to lose it.
