Brought this up on twitter- 44 is a separate building from Monsters. 44 is where Shrek/Donkey live and the Monsters building is also home to the American Express lounge.
I just can't see how the Monsters building is going too.

Actually, Shrek/Donkey live in a smaller building jammed in between 44 and monsters. This smaller building is going and backs up to the service/food delivery area for Monsters in between the two larger buildings. I would bet that the entire thing is coming down, but have no info to confirm this.

Addendum: Let me clarify that mr mantis told me that the characters were told it was 'temporary' which I took as a new location was being built. It might be that it is literally temporary and the smaller building is staying. Sorry that I was remiss in the details.

Well, it literally just happened this week. Fascinating how fast this seemingly came out of the blue.

ok... it appears that the smaller building may be going down. rumor also has it that monsters isn't. This is vague unverified info and therefore no more riddles or silly stories until I know what I know. Watch where the walls are erected in the next few days. If the entire block then #$%@#$% and if not than %^&*$%^.

Now while I originally thought that Cafe La Bamba was going to reopen due to Amity closing, if Monsters is closing this makes much more sense. I personally hope that the entire block is leveled since IMO its one of the ugliest areas of any park in Orlando, and on top of that its right up front. So if we can get a new attraction here plus a makeover for T23D (or Twister) on top of HRRR, DM, Parade, UCS, Potter, FF Replacement and Kidzone then that about wraps up the all those whispers of Universal being completely reborn over the next 4-6 years.

What about more concert space? They could add terraced platforms similar to the ones going in at city walk for much needed extra show capacity.
