SS44 isn't even on Delancey. It borders 7th, 8th and finally South St opposite the lagoon. If one stands in the concert shell area and looks across to monsters including that round kiosk thingy... are there walls surrounding all of it?

The wall doesn't go all the way down to Monsters Cafe. It stops in the area where the BTTF train used to be.

If Monsters isn't being demolished as well, I'm really scratching my head as to what could be going here.

It may be too early to tell, but are we losing a house for HHN because of this?

If this is being fast tracked as much as it seems to be, I'd assume the house will be moved. There was only 7 to begin with anyway.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to say. :) The only thing that was not surrounded was Monsters. However, I noticed that it was not open last night, nor was it open today. But it was open on Thursday.

Thanks both of you. Sometimes understanding streets and stuff in text explanations can be diff to understand. Sorry for harping!

Hum... Monsters is either next or not involved at all. I believe the later is true. Too bad. So on that smaller plot, what are they going to build that is so high that it requires thought and reflection? I love being stymied on a moments notice...

Sorry if I may have missed it, but does this SS 44 demo permit specifically say the entire building? Could it possible be structures for demo within the building, because I know it use to have several separate theaters complete with stages and elevated seating, so maybe this is for them to clean it up and clear it out inside.

I don't know if you saw my one post earlier, but even if Monsters isn't included, we can get a plot bigger than the Cat in the Hat show building on that area. On top of that, and this is just conjecture on my part, the height balloon makes me think that if this is a ride, a Transformers-like lift system will be used so a fairly substantial experience can be placed on the smaller plot.

It's for the entire building.

It reads "Demolish pre-cast 1 story building".

No. They were moved yesterday and the day before. No new location as of now.

My mother commented to me that she noticed them behind a backstage wall. When I asked her where, she didn't remember. But at least as of yesterday, they weren't in storage yet. But, with my mother's short-term memory, I would warn you to take this with a grain of salt...

I would assume they'll be placed in the park again somewhere. I think back by MIB would be the best place for them.

Yep, I did see your post and I have wondered if they are going to build a four story building... but a balloon suggests something less than an entire structure to me. You don't float a balloon a few days before demolition to build a massive building. Sounds like a design element going high. Ex: they floated balloons two years before everest began construction.

In all honesty, I think that's the only place they'll be able to fit right now. I can't think of another spot large enough.

True. But like Whylightbulb has said, this project has been fast tracked like nothing before. It's possible it was a last minute test before they really went ahead with this since they never had a chance to test it before.

This is probably a stupid question, but what exactly is the point of height balloons? I know, to see how high something will be when completed, but what does floating a balloon at that height accomplish?

To see how the new project will affect sight lines.

Well, 'yes we should' 'no we shouldn't' build a massive structure a few days before seems like a dumb thing to do to me. If they are thinking of a facade or tower or some other little ditty, then that would make sense to me. Example, we are going to build a two story building but want to have a New York style three or four story facade. A detail like that makes sense to me. If it is a bigger decision than that, then I do not approve of the impulsive nature of the project. It would imply they are building something they have yet designed and do not yet know what it will contain and how it will contain it.

Or they have it designed and just want to see the effects on the sight lines.

I have faith in them. We'll see what they're planning when they announce it. Hopefully that will come sooner than later.

I'm sure they did. But RRR was also supposed to look considerably better than it does before the project started having problems.
