Alright, someone's finally posted a new construction update!

Check out Orlando Theme Park News for a really great look at the Transformers site: http://orlandoparksnews.blogspot.com/2012/09/transformers-ride-construction-behind.html

EDIT: Orlando Informer has posted a fantastic look of the construction from HRRR. Is that ride path I see?

That long straight away section you think will be the load, unload platform?

^Yes it will. And I can now tell you all with 100% certainty that that is the EXACT layout of Transformers.

^Har Har. We all knew, but we've only had general clues, and not much evidence. That overhead is a very specific clue that proves we are getting the same ride system and layout.

Appears that the entrance will in fact be facing NY/San Fran. Interesting. Perhaps SpideyF can offer insight based on knowledge of the other versions.

If the interior is exactly like the other versions (which I think it's safe to assume it is), then the entrance will be in the middle of the block on the lagoon side. Check out the front of the USH version, methinks it will be in the same spot.

The indoor queue is mostly contained on the left corner of the building according to the pic above. The outdoor queue could probably go in the empty space made available by that corner of the building being diagonal.

^Any particular areas? Were they about the size of the vertical ones already in place?

They were hoisting them into place along the NY side and appeared to be just below fence level. They had to have some major weight on them to because the boom of that crane was shaking. Without a doubt one of the largest pieces of steel I have seen put in yet.

Screamscape has looked to his trusty magic 8 ball and is now predicting certain phases of the construction.

For those wondering, the crane and construction work is really going full tilt however, as the crane was very active even in the middle of the night during Horror Nights. It is clear there is a tight schedule to maintain and a deadline to keep. Speaking of the frantic schedule, I’ve been told that the short-term goals is the finish the framework in October and gets the outer solid walls up by November. Don’t expect to see the official announcement for Transformers however until well after Christmas… most likely in January or February 2013. With such a tight timetable, they want to get to a point where the building is walled off, roofed, and all they have to focus on in the interior work and not have to worry about any possible weather related delays (ie: Hurricane, Tropical Storm, etc…) throwing a monkey wrench into the ultra right timetable. Once they hit a certain milestone, they can try to narrow town a general target date and make the big announcement. After all, they want to avoid another Rip, Ride, Rockit style project, full of delays that could push it back into the fall, and disappoint the summer guests.

Silly Teebin construction question. The last picture I saw, before the picture below was corrugated steel sheets. So, they poor the concrete onto these steel sheets? What keeps it from cracking and popping off the steel under heavier weight? Was there another step applied between the steel and the concrete? Attached mesh or something?

They used a composite floor deck which is very structurally sound. All they need to do is pour the concrete onto it. This type of decking acts as permanent formwork to the concrete, it also provides sufficient shear bond with the concrete, so that the two materials act compositely together.

Teebin,

Here is a load table for 3" corrugated steel and concrete composite decking poured with standard weight concrete:

Thought you might be interested.

Realize that these decks can be poured in many different configurations. With or without welded mesh, prestressed cables or welded studs with heads.
Also, temporary shoring is placed under the deck to support the weight of wet concrete until cured.

Well, there's the entrance. As more gets put up, I keep fearing we're going to get that STUPID MURAL GUH. Nothing about these parks pisses me off more than that mural. I will damage Universal Creative emotionally if they even THINK about putting up that mural.
