Now that crew can move over to IoA and tear down the ice cream place and tent in Lost Continent!

Still no building permit filed for 44. They'll need it soon though.

It's completely gone now. Here are some pictures I took today. One interesting thing I noticed while taking these photos is that there was a camera crew in the construction area getting ready to film.

maybe they are shooting for the "teaser" promo for whatever this project is all about... After all what better to do than "here we're at the former site of sound stage 44 previously home to Herc and Xena as well as murder she wrote... we're not ready to tell you just what *incert reaser word here* project is about to happen.. but we want you to know it's still the year to be here... why just look at all of these lovely bloggers sitting and standing on the stoops taking my photo right now ;)

I'm surprised that the central core was so easy to take down... i guess last night they really did cut every bit of steele and pull it down... my bets were sat completely gone...

In addition to that, a convoy of HUGE dump trucks were brought in through the Beetlejuice gate DURING park hours to hall off the debris. Guests appeared complexed at the sight of it all.

Ok... I had just gotten out of bed. I meant 'perplexed' and not the illegitimate 'complexed'. Geeez.

Okay. They must REALLY want to get started on this project. That's nuts.

Ok... really sorry for my vagueness. This applies to at LEAST three threads in some way but decided to post it here. Some things I have posted in these threads have been 'slightly' incorrect but not really incorrect. Major things appear to be happening in places they won't end up happening. If you see an out of place character on one attraction could it be image burn in?

Objects in the reflection are not always what they appear... (phew, had to be careful how I wrote this. I didn't expect this info today... at all.)

Sorry I had to copy and paste because I can't find the direct quote on this thread. Gutted that I'm leaving to go back to Scotland today otherwise I'd be checking the park constantly. I'M ALMOST CERTAIN IT'S TRANSFORMERS.

What you've said here is really interesting. Confusing, but interesting. If you Google "Orlando United image burn in" it takes you to a site called - transformersforum.com. Hmm?

"Objects in the reflection are not always what they appear". Almost every single car these days has a phrase similar to this on the side mirrors. "Objects appear larger etc". So I was thinking about the cars near SS44 opposite Mel's Diner -the blue and black ones. Will Universal be subtle enough to add an Autobot symbol on to one of those mirrors? Or add a Decepticon badge to one car. Thousands of people walk past them each day but who will see them?

I think they are cleaning up so none of the dust gets blown into guests faces in case of a strong windstorm. And since this is Florida they probably want to get it out before the rain starts.

Anyone know how high the balloons were flown during the height/sight line test? I thought I read it on here but can't seem to find it now. I may have been dreaming it.

Nope. There are some conflicting reports. I've heard anywhere between 40 and 65 feet.

This is exactly what I love about Universal. They are going full steam ahead with renovating their parks. I mean when you really think about it you have this project, Despicable Me, A new nighttime show, and then the new Jaws area. On top of that, you have the renovated Spiderman, new mini golf, then the decks at Citywalk. While Disney is doing what...scaling back??

Its just really exciting to see them take pride in their properties.

I wouldn't say Disney is doing nothing. Avatar and Fantasyland Expansion?

and also a Marvel land on the horizon ... this is why Universal is doing these things. Cause Disney's future looks very exciting.

Disney will not be making a Marvel land in Orlando, they aren't allowed to because of the licensing agreement UO has with Marvel.

BUUUUUT, if Disney is willing to pony up with a good amount of money, I would say the figure is in the 100's of millions to buy out the contract, I'm sure Universal wouldn't complain to retheme the section to DC, which is discussions we've had in the past in other threads.

BUUUUUT, what about Six Flags' association to DC? What would happen with that?
