Based on your feelings or on your contacts deep inside either Hensel Phelps Construction or Universal Creative or upper management?

Based off the fact that they're already separating the soundstage itself from the wall that connected it to the AMEX lounge and Monster's Cafe. Oh, and I got a pretty good look inside though the gutted Donkey's Photo Spot.

I was wondering why they are just taking the covered walkways down... why not knock it down all at once?
Just go in overnight and take it down, and then haul it off.

This was exactly my thoughts.

I'm guessing that the building has asbestos, which is why you can't just knock it down.

^ Look at the shell that was left in hollywood... they wouldn't have had that if they just pounded the bejesus out of everything else. Too, the harder you hit at something the more likely you will have projectiles of concrete flying everywhere... like through the windows of the NY facades just across from there. Still not convinced they will tear down the soundstage proper. Truth is, I don't have any knowledge of that particular.

I mean, the permit fee leads me to believe they're knocking the whole thing down.

We shall see! I would expect them to begin with the roof and steel trusses so that is what I am keeping my eye on.

To clarify, I don't believe they have torn down any of the soundstage walls. Just the lower overhang areas surrounding parts of it and the donkey building which is completely separate from the soundstage.

Oh that makes more sense now, but aren't they removing the outer layer of the walls?

^ That is just bare unpainted concrete left when they tore the queue overhangs off. The overhangs were built as part of the original structure before anything got painted.

Could they be looking at salvaging some of the walls for use in the new structure (green is universal)? I thought that's what they ended up doing for Transformers in hollywood...

Definitely a possibility. They're going a lot slower with this than I would have expected considering their apparent rush to get it started.

^ Thanks Bob! USO92.... now those are pictures of the walls coming down... that's what it looks like. This convinces me that are indeed doing major things. For some reason, I thought the walls were more substantial than that. I wonder what they were made of.
