Yeah, that's the issue about it. I think Universal wouldn't want to give up the Marvel characters because there is no point in bringing DC when u already have in so many Six Flags parks across the country..... or they could go with their own properties and create a world out of something like Nickelodeon perhaps?

Something tells me that Comcast loves holding the Marvel contract over Disney's head. A real, "you can't have it!!!".

Well until Universal sells the rights to Disney Marvel won't be happening in Orlando. As for Disney's future I wish I could share your hopes and dreams. Fantasyland is being constructed out of necessity and to increase capacity. In the grand scheme of things it's two d-tickets, a dual spinner, a play area, a top dollar food option, numerous meet and greets, and some snacks and shops. It's replacing one e ticket, one d ticket, a single spinner, a play area, meet and greets, and some small snack options. It's the least they could do to expand upon the worlds most visited theme park.

As for Avatar until I see a shovel in the ground and some initial plans I'm just not excited. Animal Kingdom as well as Epcot and the Studios should have all had major projects either open or under construction post Potter. Its been what 7 years since the last round of etickets opened RESORT wide. Potter phase 2 will open before Disney even answers, that's insane! Now with the public statements made by Disney about capital spending being cut back and Universal coming out and stating were greatly increasing capital spending over the next five years on top of the last 4 out of 5 years of increased capital spending I find it hard to get real excited about WDW's future.

One last thing to add before everyone thinks I am being one sided. I personally really enjoyed the mermaid dark ride and Disney does in fact still get my business. But it's actually the Disneyland resort that gets it. By this October I will of spent three times as much time at the DLR then the WDW resort over the past two and a half years. Here I come Disneyland to experience a true Disney expansion and Eticket.

So...anyone think there's a chance we hear about SS44 on Monday during the Minion Mayhem press event?

I'd love for the construction wall to get some Autobots on it randomly one night to surprise us.

Ah, dang. I wonder when they're going to do it. And I wonder if it'll be before or at the same time as Potter. I would assume before due to the fact that it's a project smack dab in the middle of the park...

I'd assume the plot will be completely cleared by Monday. Don't want all that trash around with the bigwigs and stars in town!

And now we wait for a building permit and other progress...

The only real reason they have these opening events is to appear on the local and possibly international news. The press will hippyhop right back here in two weeks if Universal says it has yet another big announcement. I based my info on the fact that important components are not in place to pull off an announcement of anything TF of any impact on Monday. Now if they are building a "Haunted House" *spit, spit... spit* then I am gonna be way in the dark.

Finally, I can't recall a grand opening that offered anything more than "big things are coming!". To do so would pit two ideas against each other.

Oh I know...I'm just getting antsy. Jaws has been down for 6 months without one. This project came out of nowhere without one. It's getting infuriating!

Sideshow Mike said that security is everywhere and he got "mean mugged" by a guard for having his camera out taking pictures in the general vicinity.

What got me was that even during a Saturday night with a concert going on they never stopped. They paused for a little bit until the parade got out of the way and went right back to it. Even up until close to 8:15 they were bringing dump trucks down paths into the construction zone. The park was quite busy and they were closing off large walkways to bring in and out heavy machinery. At one point there were three front end loaders, dump trucks lining up, and multiple guys with machinery active on site. And they were setting up the night lights and brining fuel out before UCS started as well. What ever is going on here its brings a new meaning to fast tracked. Never in all my years of watching theme parks have I seen something have such an aggressive schedule.

Me either man. It's absolutely insane. I've never even heard or seen theme parks shutting off certain quadrants of the park to do construction work. I like it!

Six Flags has exclusive theme parks rights to DC Comics. Until they revoke that contract expect for it to stay that way. This however, intrigues me immensely. I seriously wonder what this attraction is going to be.
